A one-day Roundtable Conference organized in Raipur by the National Statistical Office to ensure quality and timely data collection under the Annual Survey of Industries and the Capital Expenditure Survey

To enhance the understanding of statistical procedures among industrial units and to ensure quality and timely data collection under the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) and Capital Expenditure Survey (CAPEX), the National Statistical Office (Field Operations Division), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, organized a one-day Roundtable Conference today at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, Raipur. The primary objective of the programme was to connect industries directly with survey processes and to make data reporting more efficient and accurate.

The programme was presided over by Shri Altaf Hussain Haji, Deputy Director General, National Statistical Office, Raipur. The event commenced with a joint lamp-lighting ceremony by industry representatives. Deputy Director Smt. Agrwal Sachita Rakesh welcomed the participants and briefed them about the objectives of the conference. Assistant Directors Shri Rishabh Singh Shyam (Bilaspur) and Shri Prakhar Gupta (Ambikapur) were also present on the occasion.

In his address, Shri Haji highlighted the significance of the Annual Survey of Industries, stating that data collected from industrial units—such as capital, turnover, value addition, fuel and raw material consumption, input-output structure, employment and social security—are essential for estimating National Income and Gross Domestic Product. He emphasized the need for industries to furnish data within the stipulated timelines, underscoring the importance of accurate statistical contributions towards the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.” He urged industrial units to fill the ASI 2024–25 schedules themselves on the web portal and to contact the office for any necessary technical guidance. He also shared information related to the implementation of the National Statistical Policy.

Shri Lokesh Chandrakant Jain, Vice President, Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce, suggested the use of innovations such as Artificial Intelligence in the statistical system, the establishment of a state-level statistical training institute, and the enhancement of international cooperation.

Dr. Sapan Kumar Saha, Chief Operating Officer, Nandan Group of Industries, appreciated the efforts of the National Statistical Office in collecting data under challenging circumstances and stressed the need for organizing such programmes within industrial premises as well. Shri Kamlesh Ghosh, Director, Mahendra Sponge and Power Limited, praised the contribution of the National Statistical Office, noting that reliable data form the foundation of robust economic policies.

The conference was attended by Shri Suresh Kashyap, Joint Director, Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Chhattisgarh, senior officers from regional and sub-regional offices, and representatives from major industrial units of the state, including Nandan Group, Mahendra Sponge and Power Limited, Godawari Power and Ispat Limited, Shri Bajrang Power and Ispat Limited, Animesh Ispat, Satyam Balaji Rice Industries Pvt. Ltd., Sunroof Energy Pvt. Ltd., Sol Bridge Power Pvt. Ltd., Sharda Dairy and Food Products Pvt. Ltd., Jaika Automobiles and Finance Pvt. Ltd., Hindustan Coils Ltd., and Mission Media Pvt. Ltd.

The programme was conducted by Shri R.K. Srivastava, Senior Statistical Officer, who expressed gratitude to all representatives and officials, formally concluding the conference.
