RRU ORGANIZED CSR ROUNDTABLE: BUILDING A SECURE AND SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY

Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) successfully organized a high-impact one-day CSR Roundtable on the theme “Building a Secure and Sustainable Society” The event convened distinguished intellectuals, corporate leaders and academic experts to explore innovative pathways for strengthening sustainable community development through effective Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices.
The roundtable was graced by Vice-Chancellor of RRU, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, alongside Dr. Abhishek Lakhtakia, Chief Executive Officer, Adani Foundation and Shri Ashwini Saxena, Chief Executive Officer, GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, who joined as Guests of Honour.

More than 30 renowned organizations participated, including Adani Foundation, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ltd. (ONGC), HCL Foundation, Gujarat CSR Authority, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd (GSPCL), CDSL - Central Depository Services (India) Limited, Checkmate Security, The Ahmedabad District Co-Operative (ADC) Bank Ltd, CPCL – Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, Union Bank of India, Wagh Bakri, CISS Security, Tata Consultancy Services, Kirloskar Brothers Ltd., GRAMAX Cybertech Ltd., Reliance Retail, Reliance - RJIL Foundation, Infinity Retail - Croma (Tata Group), Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, ICMR, Infibeam Avenues, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Priyajit Security and Consulting Pvt. Ltd.,Resecurity, Pioneer Security and Allied Services Pvt Ltd., Bank of Baroda and several other esteemed organisations.

The roundtable began with a warm welcome and introductory remarks by Prof. (Dr.) Priyanka Sharma, Dean, Extension and Distance Learning Directorate, who emphasized the importance of collaborative dialogue and knowledge exchange in driving impactful CSR initiatives.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Dharmeshkumar Prajapati highlighted RRU’s achievements, ongoing projects and the university’s commitment to leveraging CSR partnerships for community development through academic–industry collaboration.
Delivering the special address, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel articulated RRU’s vision anchored in innovation, national security, and societal resilience through the TREE Model—Training, Research, Education, and Extension. He elaborated on how each pillar contributes to nation-building:
1. Training:
Specialized modules in law enforcement, disaster management, and cybersecurity, delivered in collaboration with government agencies and NGOs.
2. Research:
Interdisciplinary studies in national security, public safety, and emerging technologies, supported through international collaborations, conferences, and publications.
3. Education:
Academic programs from undergraduate to doctoral levels, integrating curriculum innovation, skills development, and field engagement to cultivate future leaders.
4. Extension:
Community outreach activities, including seminars, public awareness programs, community policing initiatives, and partnerships with local governance bodies.
Prof. Patel emphasized how these pillars collectively advance national priorities such as financial inclusiveness, maritime security, cybersecurity and AI, physical and mental fitness, climate resilience, and border management. He reaffirmed RRU’s mission of contributing to an Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) and Atmasurakshit (self-secured) Bharat by aligning academia, industry, and community participation.
Guest of Honour, Dr. Abhishek Lakhtakia highlighted the importance of targeted CSR interventions and acknowledged the relevance of the presentations made by RRU’s school directors, noting their potential for creating high-impact future CSR collaborations.
Guest of Honour, Shri Ashwini Saxena, emphasized the role of corporations in addressing societal challenges through integrated and synergistic efforts. He stressed the need for renewed dedication to CSR as a transformative tool for uplifting communities.
The Roundtable was also graced by the special presence of Ms. Lovlina Borgohain, Indian boxer and Bronze Medalist at the 2020 Olympic Games, Founder of the Lovlina Boxing Academy and DSP–Assam.

Directors from RRU’s specialized schools presented impactful CSR-supported initiatives in Marine Security, IT and Cybersecurity, Internal Security & SMART Policing, Criminal Law, Defence Strategic Studies, BCORE – Bharat Centre of Olympic Research & Education alongwith Sports & Physical Education. The roundtable discussions saw active participation from organizations such as HCL Foundation, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Kirloskar Brothers Ltd., Priyajit Security and Consulting, Infibeam Avenues and more, who shared their ongoing CSR activities and explored opportunities for joint intervention. The session was facilitated by Prof. (Dr.) Priyanka Sharma, who synthesized the collective insights and highlighted potential avenues for future collaboration.
