BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS(BIS) AHMEDABAD RAIDS ON UNIT SELLING LED TVs WITHOUT BIS STANDARD MARK

Enforcement raid was carried out by team of officers of Bureau of Indian Standards, Ahmedabad on the premises of M/s M U Electronics Products Pvt Ltd, 221, Sahjanand Estate, Vibhag-2, Ujala Circle, Sarkhej-Sanand, Cross Road, Sarkhej, Ahmedabad on 24.11.2025 based on the complaint received that the unit is indulged in selling LED TV without BIS Standard Mark & without having valid BIS licence. During the raid, firm was found selling LED TV without BIS Standard Mark and without having valid BIS licence and around 39 number of LED TV were seized from the premises of M/s M U Electronics Products Pvt Ltd.

The product is under Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) of BIS as notified by the Quality Control Order, issued by the Govt. of India which implies that no person shall manufacture, import, distribute, sell, hire, lease, store or exhibit for sale any such goods, article, process, system or service without having valid license from BIS. Action is being initiated against the offender for sale of product covered under CRS Scheme of BIS, without BIS Standard Mark or valid BIS licence, violating Section 17 of BIS Act 2016. The offence is punishable by imprisonment upto two years or a fine not less than of Rs. 2,00,000/- or both.

The Government of India through its various Quality Control Orders have brought more than 700 products under Mandatory BIS Certification, which is applicable to both domestic and foreign manufacturers. Unscrupulous manufacturers manufacture such products without a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in order to sell products without quality checks and deceive the public. Bureau of Indian Standards has been carrying out a series of raids, as and when information about misuse or violation of QCO is received/collected to protect common consumers from such deception and possible safety hazards which results from usage of such materials. Any body who has information about misuse of BIS Standard Mark or information about the manufacturers of the products covered under mandatory certification, may write to the Head, Bureau of Indian Standards, Ahmedabad Branch Office, Third Floor, Navjivan Amrut Jayanti Bhavan, Behind Gujarat Vidyapith, Off Ashram Road, Ahmedabad 380014( Telephone 079-27540314).
