National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai celebrated its 32^nd Foundation day on November 12, 2025. As part of the celebration, the Curtain Raiser for the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2025, to be held at Punjab University, Chandigarh, in December 2025 was conducted. The event marked the formal launch of the festival and introduced its theme, “Vigyan Se Samriddhi – Science to Prosperity.” The IISF 2025 is jointly organized by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Department of Science & Technology, Department of Biotechnology, Department of Space, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Department of Atomic Energy, and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA).

The curtain raiser at NIOT underscored the importance of taking science to society, inspiring curiosity and innovation among youth, and showcasing how scientific advancements contribute to national development, sustainability, and self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat). The event also highlighted IISF 2025’s major thematic areas, including Science for Society, Integration of Traditional Knowledge with Modern Science, Science for Sustainability and Blue Economy, and Atmanirbhar Bharat through Science and Technology.
