Office of the Insurance Ombudsman, Thane, to celebrate First Bima Lokpal Day on 11th November 2025

The Office of the Insurance Ombudsman, Thane, will celebrate its First Bima Lokpal Day on Tuesday, 11th November 2025, at Tip Top Plaza, LBS Marg, Thane (West). The event will commence at 10:00 AM and conclude at 2:30 PM. The jurisdiction of the Thane Office extends over Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Navi Mumbai, and parts of Mumbai, including Mulund (East/West) and N, S, and T Wards.
The Institution of the Insurance Ombudsman serves as a quasi-judicial forum established to protect the interests of policyholders and to facilitate fair, impartial, and cost-free resolution of insurance-related grievances. Policyholders can approach the Office of the Insurance Ombudsman if their complaint to the insurance company’s Grievance Redressal Officer (GRO) has been denied or remains unresolved for more than 30 days.
Complaints can be filed through multiple modes—online via the official website www.cioins.co.in, by email to oio.thane@cioins.co.in, by post, or in person at the office. Complaints may be submitted by the insured person or an immediate family member, but not by agents or third parties. The process is completely free of cost, and cases are generally heard online and resolved within 90 days of receiving all necessary documents. The decision (Award) issued by the Insurance Ombudsman is binding on the insurance companies, which are required to comply within 30 days of the order. The celebration of Bima Lokpal Day aims to enhance awareness about the role of the Insurance Ombudsman and to encourage policyholders to make use of this transparent and consumer-friendly mechanism for grievance redressal.
