The 84^th foundation day of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, an autonomous organization under Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 26 September 2025, at the CSIR Campus in Taramani, Chennai by CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) and CSIR Madras Complex (CMC).

 

As a part of the foundation day celebrations Open Day was observed in CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) and Regional Units of CSIR-CECRI, CSIR-CEERI, CSIR-CSIO, CSIR-NEERI and CSIR-NML at CSIR Campus, Taramani, Chennai, and at TTRS (Tower Testing and Research Station) Campus, Tirusulam, Chennai,

All laboratories at the CSIR Campus in Taramani and the TTRS facility in Tirusulam were opened to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Special arrangements were made to welcome the visitors, who were given an opportunity to witness demonstrations of state-of-the-art facilities, technologies, and products developed by CSIR.

 

The event drew over 9,700 participants, including school and college students, teachers, industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and the general public. The visitors also included students under Jigyasa Student–Scientist Connect Programme. Visitors gained a first-hand view of the wide-ranging, multi-disciplinary research and development programmes currently underway in the laboratories.

Many showed keen interest in the exhibits and engaged enthusiastically with the scientific staff, making the Open Day a vibrant exchange between researchers and the community.
