The Department of Posts is playing a significant role to promoting financial inclusion and Digital India at the grassroots level. Aligned with the motto ‘Dak Sewa- Jan Sewa’, its strong reach and reliable services in remote and rural areas have established it as an impactful organization among the people. These views were expressed by Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, Ahmedabad Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, while inaugurating the "Postal Business Development and Financial Inclusion" Maha Mela organized on September 23 at the campus of Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan, as the chief guest. While information about various postal services was provided through Maha Mela, Postmaster General Shri KK Yadav also distributed passbooks and policy bonds to the beneficiaries of various Savings Schemes, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Postal Life Insurance and India Post Payments Bank. He also felicitated and encouraged postal employees for their exceptional performance.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that Department of Posts is no longer limited to delivering letters only; it has become a dynamic platform for financial inclusion, Digital India, and socio-economic development. Throughout the journey from ‘Dakiya Dak laya’ to ‘Dakiya Bank laya’, Post Offices are now empowering citizens by connecting them with Government schemes, Banking, Insurance, and Global markets. He highlighted the recently introduced Advanced Postal Technology (APT) 2.0, which is making postal services more smarter and accessible.
A Dak Chaupal was also organized at this Maha Mela, focusing on various Government welfare schemes like Aadhaar enrolment, Passport services and also Digital Banking, DBT, General Insurance, Digital life certificates through IPPB. Special focus was given to remote and unbanked areas. Information was also shared about Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra to promote e-commerce and international trade for local artisans, ODOP, and MSMEs.To promote philately among youth, they were introduced to Philatelic Deposit Accounts and My Stamp services.

While distributing Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana passbooks to Girl children, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav emphasized that "Education and financial security of daughters form the foundation of an empowered society.” He urged everyone to open Sukanya Samriddhi accounts for daughters during auspicious occasions like Navratri and provide them the gift of financial security. Under this innovative initiative, 4.77 lakh Sukanya Samriddhi accounts are currently active across North Gujarat, and 850 villages have been declared as “Sampoorna Sukanya Samriddhi Grams”. In Patan District, over 34,000 Sukanya Samriddhi accounts have been opened and 108 villages have been declared as “Sampoorna Sukanya Samriddhi Grams”.
Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav further added that Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) Schemes not only offer safe and reliable investment options but also strongly promote social security and economic self-reliance.
Superintendent of Posts, Patan Division Shri H.C. Parmar said that every section of society is being connected with postal services. Under financial inclusion in the Patan Division, currently 2.94 lakh Savings accounts and 85,000 IPPB accounts are operational. In Patan Division, 105 villages have been declared as “Sampoorna Bima Gram” and under a recently launched initiative, 14 villages have been declared as “Sampoorna Bachat Gram”. Through the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra at Patan, over 3,000 passports have been issued during this financial year. All Branch Post Offices under Patan Division have successfully met the standards of the “Silver Warrior” category, while 2 Branch Post Offices have achieved the “Diamond Warrior” status and 16 Branch Post Offices have been recognized under the “Golden Warrior” category.
Postal Employees felicitated:
On this occasion, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav felicitated Postal officials including, Yogeshbhai R. Dave, Revabhai H. Chauhan, Malaji D. Thakor, Sachinbhai P. Joshi, Ganpatbhai G. Joshi, Shaileshbhai G. Joshi, Yash P. Modi, Deep M. Barot, Baldev B. Prajapati, Shyambhai D. Nadoda, Manjiji H. Thakor, Valjibhai H. Rabari, Krishi H. Nai, Bhargav S. Modi, Happy M. Solanki, Ramilaben B. Desai, Ronak R. Rathod, H. D. Thakkar, Naresh J. Solanki, Mukesh D. Solanki, and Mittal D. Joshi of the Patan Division for their outstanding performance. Along with this, the Sub Divisional Heads of Patan Division Shri Nehal Patel, Shri S. I. Ghanchi, and Shri Jitendra Adaliya were also felicitated.
On this occasion, Superintendent Post Offices Shri H C Parmar, Assistant Director Shri M M Shaikh, IPPB Chief Manager Shri Abhijeet Jibhkate, Manager Shri Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Patan Municipal Councillor Shri Rajendra K Hirvaniya, Assistant Superintendent Shri K. Balasubramaniam, Inspector Shri Vinu Bharwad, Shri Nehal Patel, Shri S. I. Ghanchi, Shri Jitendra Adalia, Postmaster Patan HO Shri Valjibhai Rabari, as well several local Public representatives, Postal officials, Citizens as well as Students also participated in the event.
