Fish Tech for post harvest management and value addition (Marine and Inland )

Kochi, 19 September 2025:  Secretary, Department of Fisheries, Government of India, Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, visited the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT), Kochi today to review its functioning and ongoing activities.

During the visit, a detailed presentation on “Fish Tech for Post-Harvest Management and Value Addition (Inland and Marine)” was made by Shri Sagar Mehra, Joint Secretary (Inland Fisheries), Department of Fisheries; Director, ICAR-CIFT; Commissioner of Fisheries, Andhra Pradesh; Director of Fisheries, Chhattisgarh; and representatives of the startup Epicure Innovative.

Dr. Likhi emphasised the importance of bridging the gaps in fish processing and value addition by adopting modern technologies. He urged ICAR-CIFT and other stakeholders to prepare a roadmap to strengthen post-harvest management and enhance the fisheries value chain.

Senior officers from States and Union Territories, Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), startups, seafood exporters and other stakeholders participated in the review meeting in hybrid mode.
