A group of 13 Officer Trainees (OTs) of Group “A” of the Indian Information Service (IIS) visited Press Information Bureau Gangtok today, as part of their All India (Bharat Darshan) Study Tour of IIS Group ‘A’ Officers from Sept 1-22, 2025.

Shri Manas Pratim Sarma, Assistant Director, Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Akashvani News Gangtok, accorded a warm welcome to the visiting officers with traditional Khada and souvenirs.

Shri Sarma, in his welcome address, briefed the officers on the ongoing activities of PIB and Akashvani News. He also provided detailed media landscape in Sikkim and informed them about the various workshops and activities/initiatives undertaken by PIB in the last one year. He also shared his experience about the recent resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Nathula Pass in the month of June after a gap of five years.

He also informed about the various ICOPs under the theme of Viksit Bharat 2047 that PIB has conducted in the various districts of Sikkim in coordination with CBC. He said that these outreach programs are being conducted in Sikkim on the welfare schemes of the government. He also said that efforts are on to disseminate information through various media platforms.

Shri Kiran Murali, on behalf of the Officer Trainees expressed their gratitude to PIB Gangtok for the warm welcome and presented a memento as a token of appreciation to Shri Manas Pratim Sarma.

Smt. Jikmit Lepcha, Program Head of Doordarshan Kendra Gangtok and officials from Akashvani Gangtok and PIB were present on this occasion.
