The Ministry of Education is organising the National Awards to Teachers 2025 on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, September 5, 2025. The event will celebrate and felicitate outstanding teachers from across the country, recognising their valuable contribution to the field of education. Ms. Koijam Machasana, a teacher from Ghari Upper Primary School in Imphal West, Manipur, is among the 45 Teachers of  Department of School Education & Literacy.

The awardees include teachers from the Department of School Education & Literacy as well as the Department of Higher Education.

Ms. Koijam Machasana is a truly visionary leader who can identify the challenges and build a strategy to face them. Her revolutionary leadership as a school headmaster started with an honest evaluation of her school's most significant challenges: parental suspicion, poor community partnership, and skill-building learning deficits. Far from being intimidated, she designed an ambitious strategic plan to address these issues head-on.

Ms. Machasana's single most effective strategy was her new-style community engagement, especially her Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) concentration. She engaged young mothers from the neighborhood directly, taught them NEP and ECCE principles, and this one initiative not only established the school's thriving pre-primary wing but also generated a whole new level of cooperation and trust. By empowering them, she didn't merely get pupils on roll—she built a dedicated, collaborative community. Her leadership demonstrates that thorough, people-centric planning can transform adversity into deep success.
