The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at its Central Office, Vile Parle, Mumbai. The flag hoisting ceremony was presided over by CEO, KVIC, Ms. Roop Rashi in the presence of all officers and employees of the Central Office.

The celebration began with the unfurling of the National Flag, followed by cultural programmes filled with patriotic spirit. In his address during the ceremony, KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar highlighted the deep significance of Khadi, stating, “Khadi is not just a cloth; it is the garment of the soul of India. The Prime Minister’s resolution of ‘New Khadi of New India’ and the ‘Vocal for Local’ movement has transformed it into a mass movement. His appeal to ‘Adopt Khadi and give strength to the poor of the country’ has made Khadi a symbol of fashion and pride.”

He further emphasised that during the Amrit Kaal of Independence, KVIC has taken forward the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi by elevating Khadi to new heights under the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. KVIC has also led a comprehensive campaign to promote the Government of India’s Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan across the nation, strengthening the spirit of nationalism.

   

The event concluded with stirring performances of patriotic songs by artists and KVIC employees. The celebrations saw the active participation of KVIC officers, employees, and invited guests, reflecting unity and pride in the nation’s progress.
