NTPC Western Region-I Projects deliver Outstanding Performance; Pledge to Achieve New Milestones on Independence Day

On the occasion of Independence Day, NTPC Western Region-I (WR-I) Headquarters, Mumbai, hosted a flag hoisting ceremony at its Residential Complex in Powai. Regional Executive Director, Shri Santosh Kumar Takhele, hoisted the National Flag and addressed employees, expressing pride in NTPC’s achievements.

Shri Takhele highlighted that NTPC Group has a total installed capacity of 82,977 MW across 110 operating power stations, with an ambitious target of reaching 130 GW by 2032. During FY 2024-25, NTPC Group generated 438.7 billion units (BU) of electricity, reflecting a 3.95% growth over the previous year. He appreciated the contributions of employees, associate agencies, ICH staff, security personnel, and members of the Ladies Club. On this Independence Day, Shri Takhele called for a collective pledge stating,“Clean energy, environmental stewardship, and sustainable growth will be our greatest gift to future generations.” The highlights of the projects are as follows;
WR-I Performance and Targets
- Generation in FY 2024-25: 24.25 BU
- Target for FY 2025-26: 26.455 BU (including 1,945 MU from RGPPL)
Key Station Highlights
Solapur Project
- Generated 6,830.20 MU in FY 2024-25 with ~60% PLF.
- Significant improvement in forced outages — reduced from 5.41% to 3.84%; number of outages brought down from 24 to 10.
- Achieved 18.08 lakh MT fly ash utilization (₹81.21 crore revenue) and 1.08 lakh MT gypsum disposal (₹20.59 crore revenue), ranking first in NTPC.
- Both FGD units operational; awarded ‘Environment FGD Unit of the Year.’
Mouda Project
- Generated 14,266.12 MU in FY 2024-25 with ~70% PLF.
- Unit-4 boiler overhauling completed in a record 54 days.
- FGD gas-in achieved on 11 March 2025.
- Surface reservoir for rainwater harvesting completed (1.8 lakh m³ capacity).
- Honored with TERI Water Sustainability Award and GMF Diamond Award.
Anta Project
- Highest generation in 5 years — 423 MU, 20% higher than last year.
- Delivered successful frequency response to NRLDC.
- Received Gold Shakti Award at IPS conference for excellence in gas station O&M.
- Implemented QR-code helmet system for worker safety.
Kawas Project
- Maintained highest DC and lowest FO% among gas stations for two consecutive years.
- Restored power during the 12 March 2025 blackout using black start capability, becoming the first station to do so.
- Awarded Greentech Environment Award 2025.
Jhanor-Gandhar Project
- Generated 676.59 MU in FY 2024-25 with 92.25% DC and 11.75% PLF.
- CSR recognized with Apex India HR Excellence Gold Award and Greentech Environment Award 2025.
- Township rainwater harvesting facility commissioned to achieve net-zero water footprint.
Ratnagiri Gas and Power (RGPPL)
- Generated 1,443.57 MU in FY 2024-25, 20% higher than last year.
- Township STP inaugurated by CMD, NTPC on 23 December 2024.
- Certified by IGBC as ‘Net Zero Water (Operations)’ 2024 Township.
- Honored as ‘Best National Rainwater Harvesting Facility 2025.’
CSR Achievements
- WR-I implemented 57 CSR projects worth ₹80.63 crore.
- Over 200 girl students benefited under the GEM (Girl Empowerment Mission) program.
- Significant work in health, education, skill development, and environmental sustainability across Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa.
Key initiatives include support to Red Cross Society, mobile medical units, STEM labs, digital literacy programs, hostel construction for Sainik School, and infrastructure development in educational institutions.
