The 79th Independence Day of the nation was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Western Railway Headquarters, Churchgate, Mumbai. General Manager, Western Railway, Shri Vivek Kumar Gupta hoisted the National Flag and inspected the ceremonial parade of the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

Extending his greetings to railway employees and their families, Shri Gupta paid tribute to the valour and sacrifice of freedom fighters, martyrs, and heroes of the freedom struggle. He urged all railwaymen to draw inspiration from their spirit and to dedicate their efforts towards building a better future for the country. Highlighting recent achievements and milestones of Western Railway, Shri Gupta motivated staff to continue their hard work, stressing that collective efforts will help Western Railway march ahead and contribute significantly to the progress of Indian Railways and the nation.

At the beginning of the function, Shri Gupta was welcomed by IG-cum-Principal Chief Security Commissioner, Western Railway . Shri Ajoy Sadany; President of Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (WRWWO), Smt. Neeta Gupta; Additional General Manager, Shri Pradeep Kumar, Principal Heads of Departments, and senior railway officers were present.

On this occasion, Smt. Neeta Gupta donated utility items such as water purifiers and kettles to Jagjivan Ram Hospital, handed over to Principal Chief Medical Director, Western Railway ,Dr. Konda Anuradha. The celebration also featured a cultural programme of patriotic songs and dances at the Headquarters lawns.

Later, Shri Gupta visited Jagjivan Ram Hospital at Mumbai Central, inaugurating renovated wards, an Audiometry Room and a newly constructed Fire Escape Ramp. The event was attended by senior railway officials, and hospital staff.
