In a written reply to the question raised by MP Raju Bista today in the Lok Sabha regarding the total funds allocated and the number of projects approved under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) from 2019 till June, 2025 for West Bengal particularly Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts and the number of projects operationalised under the yojana and the resultant increase in operational processing and preservation capacity in the said districts, the Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Shri Ravneet Singh stated that, Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY)is a central sector demand driven scheme and applications are invited through Expression of Interest (EoI) from all over India including Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts in West Bengal. The funds are not allocated/sanctioned/released State-wise under any of the component schemes of PMKSY. The proposals received are scrutinised for their eligibility and evaluated based on the criteria fixed as per the extant scheme guidelines. Merit based approvals are given to the eligible proposals based on availability of funds. As on June 30, 2025, 27 projects have been approved from 2019 and till 2025 in the West Bengal State with approved Grant-in-Aid of Rs. 110.54 crore.

The Minister added that a total of 42 number of projects have been operationalised/completed under PMKSY as on June 30, 2025, in the West Bengal State, creating a processing and preservation capacity of 8.16 lakh metric tonne (LMT)/annum and accordingly, wastage has been reduced as per the capacity created by these completed projects. Out of these 42 projects, 02 projects have been completed in the Darjeeling district, creating a processing and preservation capacity of 0.31 lakh metric tonne (LMT)/annum.
