Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the National Standards Body of India functioning under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, organised a two day training program on 30 & 31st July 2025 at BIS Chennai Office, for quality control personnel of the industry involved in the manufacturing of Polypropylene materials for moulding & extrusion, IS 10951 under its bi - monthly Capsule Course Training Program for Quality Control Personnel.

The programme commenced with a Welcome Address and program objectives by   Shri S. D. Dayanand, Scientist-F / Senior Director & Head, BIS – Chennai Branch Office, who welcomed the participants and outlined the key objectives of the training program.

During the two days training program, the salient features and importance of requirements of Indian Standard Specification, IS 10951, includes test methods / procedures for testing the requirements have been imparted to the participants from the industry manufacturing Polypropylene Compound Materials situated in and around Chennai, catering predominantly to the needs of Automobile Industry. As part of this program, participants were taken to Central Institute of Plastic Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Chennai and were briefed about the sample preparation and testing procedures

The program concluded with an interactive session with the participants by Dr. Meenakshi Ganesan, Deputy Director General (Southern Region) and Ms. Chitra Gupta, Deputy Director General (Hallmarking & Training) and distribution of certificates to quality control personnel. The program was well received by the participants and appreciated the efforts and ended with the vote of Thanks.
