Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the National Standards Body of our country mandated under the BIS Act 2016 to formulate Indian Standards for Products, Processes and Services covering different sectors of economy and is also responsible for devising and implementing Conformity Assessment Schemes, which involve quality certification to monitor the implementation of the standards.

Jewellers Awareness Programme was organized by BIS Ahmedabad at AMA (Ahmedabad Management Association) on 25th June 2025 at Ahmedabad District. Which was attended by 150 jewellers of Ahmedabad. 

Shri Sumit Sengar, Director & Head BIS Ahmedabad informed a brief about Hallmarking scheme and its benefits for the Jewellers. On this Occasion a Consumer Awareness Campaign for creating awareness was also launched by BIS Ahmedabad jointly with Jewellers Association.

Shri Sumit Sengar inaugurated this Campaign. and he also informed about the importance of BIS CARE APP and aware to use the BIS CARE APP.

Shri Vipin Bhaskar, Sc-D/Joint Director BIS Ahmedabad informed about the Jewellers guidelines and delivered detailed presentation on rules and regulation of BIS & Explained the importance of HUID.

The Programme was followed by an extensive interaction with the jewellers and various doubt, queries and questions related to Hallmark (HUID) were discussed with the Jewellers.

Ahmedabad Jewellers Association welcomed the Consumer Awareness Initiative of BIS Ahmedabad and were very enthusiastic. They also assure wholeheartedly support from the Jewellers community in the Consumer Awareness Campaign.
