The 11^th International Day of Yoga (IDY) observed by the Siddha Regional Research Institute Puducherry on Saturday, June 21, 2025, under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” This theme emphasizes the deep interconnection between personal well-being and planetary health, advocating for sustainable lifestyles and global harmony.

To ensure seamless nationwide implementation, the Ministry of Ayush has designated State Nodal Units (SNUs) across India. In Puducherry, the Siddha Regional Research Institute (SRRI) has been appointed as the State Nodal Unit, with Dr. S. Shunmugaram, R.O (S) S II, serving as the State Nodal Officer.

Under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. N.J. Muthukumar, Director General, and as part of the Yoga Sangam initiative, SRRI Puducherry has organized four Satellite Events across the Union Territory on June 21, 2025, in collaboration with the following institutions:

• Pondicherry University – Indoor Stadium, Puducherry
• Pondicherry University Community College, Government Women’s Engineering College, and the Sports Authority of India – Multipurpose Hall cum Indoor Stadium, Lawspet, Puducherry
• Aditya Vidyashram Residential School – Poraiyur, Puducherry
• Acharya Sri Sampurna Vidyalayam – Villianur, Puducherry

In addition to these major events, SRRI successfully coordinated and facilitated approximately 500 Yoga events under the unsupported category of Yoga Sangam, with the active participation of an estimated 1,00,000 individuals across the region.

These efforts were carried out under the able leadership of Dr. P. Sathiyarajeswaran, Assistant Director (i/c), SRRI, and were meticulously coordinated by the following team of dedicated professionals: Dr. Shyamala Rajkumar, HOD, R.O (S) S-III, Dr. S. Shunmugaram, R.O (S) S II, Dr. P. Thenmozhi, R.O (S) S-II, Dr. A. Lavanya, R.O (S) S-II, Dr. R. Vinodini, R.A (S) -II, Dr. A. Siva, R.A (S) -II, Dr. B. Vinu Bharathi, R.A (S) I, Dr. L. Jaiganesh, R.A (S) and Dr. A. Sakila Banu, JRF – PPVC.

Their collective efforts ensured the successful execution and wide outreach of the IDY 2025 activities throughout Puducherry. These widespread regional observances reflect and reinforce the national celebration of IDY 2025, contributing significantly to the promotion of yoga as a holistic approach to health and environmental consciousness.
