Prime Minister to inaugurate 103 Amrit Stations including 15 stations in Maharashtra on 22 May 2025

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister, Amrit Bharat Station Scheme launched by the Ministry of Railways in December 2022, the redevelopment of 1309 stations across India is being undertaken with the aim of transforming railway stations into modern, integrated transport hubs.
The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of these stations in two phases—6th August 2023 and 26th February 2024. The scheme focuses on long-term development, multimodal integration, enhanced amenities for Divyangjans, improved sustainability, and the transformation of stations into future-ready urban centers.
In a significant milestone, 103 redeveloped railway stations across Indian Railways will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister on 22nd May 2025, including 15 key stations of Maharashtra. These stations have been upgraded with modern passenger-friendly facilities at a combined cost of over Rs. 175 crore.
Among them, 15 stations in Maharashtra namely Parel, Chinchpokli, Vadala Road, Matunga, Shahad, Lonand, Kedgaon, Lasalgaon, MurtizapurJn, Devlali, Dhule, Savda, Chanda Fort, NSCB ItwariJn, Amgaon.
The details of the station Redeveloped are as follows:
1. Chinchpokli - Upgraded Passenger Facilities at Chinchpokli Station of Mumbai Division of Central Railway.
Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi laid the Foundation stone for Redevelopment of Chinchpokli station on 26.02.2024.
To enhance passenger comfort and convenience, several key improvements have been made at Chinchpokli.
Project cost 11.81 crore.
- Beautified Booking Offices: Both KYN End and CSMT End booking halls have been renovated with cleaner, brighter interiors.
- Improved Toilet Access: Pathways to public toilets have been levelled with checkered tiles for easier access.
- Additional Drinking Water Points: Six new taps installed across three booths (3 x 2) for better water availability.
- CSMT End FOB Beautification: Foot Over Bridge upgraded with improved aesthetics and lighting.
- Vehicle Garden (CSMT East Side): A themed garden adds greenery and a pleasant waiting area.
- New Seating Arrangements: Multiple new benches of sizes 2x6, 6x8, 7x10, and 2x12 for passenger comfort.
- Clear Signage: New signage boards installed for better guidance and wayfinding.
- Renovated Toilets: Upgraded toilets with new urinals, Indian-style commodes, and improved hygiene.
- Divyangjan Booking Counter: One booking counter introduced facilitating differently-abled passengers.




2. Parel - Enhanced Passenger Amenities at Parel Station of Mumbai Division of Central Railway.
Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi laid the Foundation stone for Redevelopment of Parel station on 06.08.2023.
Project Cost 19.41 crore.
Parel Station has seen a host of improvements to boost passenger convenience, accessibility, and overall experience:
- New Booking Office: Equipped with Divyang-friendly features and mobile charging points.
- Pay & Park Facility: Introduced to ensure safe and convenient parking for passengers.
- Circulating Area Upgraded: Development and beautification work completed to ease movement and enhance aesthetics.
- Improved Signage: Clear, bilingual signage boards installed for better navigation.
- Pay & Use Toilets: Includes separate facilities for Divyangjan, ensuring hygiene and accessibility.
- Drinking Water Taps: Installed at key locations for easy access to clean water.
- Multi-Speciality Hall: A versatile space created for various passenger-centric activities.
- Vertical Gardens: Added greenery enhances the station’s look and promotes a clean environment.
- Better Lighting & Ventilation: New fans and tubelights installed for a brighter and more comfortable atmosphere.




3. Vadala Road station - Upgraded Passenger Amenities at Vadala Road Station of Mumbai Division of Central Railway.
Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi laid the Foundation stone for Redevelopment of Vadala Road station on 26.02.2024
Total Project cost 23.02.crore.
Vadala Road station has undergone comprehensive upgrades to enhance passenger convenience, safety, and station aesthetics:
- Renovated Booking Offices: Refurbishment of booking offices at FOB level and Platform 1 for better service.
- Upgraded Toilets: Pay & Use toilets renovated at Platform 1 (Kurla End) and Platform 4 (Kurla End).
- False Ceilings: Installed on Platform 1 and inside the PF1 Booking Office for improved aesthetics.
- New Water Booths: Set up at PF1 (CSMT End) and PF4 (Kurla End) for easy drinking water access.
- Entrance Gate Renovation: Gates upgraded near PF1 booking office and Middle FOB for smoother entry.
- Wall Gardening: Vertical gardens added at multiple locations, including:
- PF1 (Public toilet to Kurla End)
- Near Middle FOB entrance
- PF4 (CSMT End)
- FOB Renovation (CSMT End): Improved structure and visual appeal of the Foot Over Bridge.
- Seating Arrangements:
- Marble extensions on platforms
- Steel pipe seating around pillars
- PF4 Wall Renovation: Side wall along Platform 4 newly refurbished.
- Panic Buttons: Installed near ladies' coaches on PF1 & PF4 for women’s safety.
- Tech Upgrades:
- New CCTV cameras
- Upgraded indicators
- Enhanced lighting
- Clear Signage: New signage boards and station name boards installed on steel pillars and entrances.
- Station Name Beautification: At entrances near booking office and middle FOB.
- Accessibility Ramps: Two on PF4 and one near booking office for Divyang access.
- First-Class Demarcation: Clear floor tiling on PF1, 2, 3 & 4.
- Iron Nets on FOB Stairs: For added passenger safety.
- Ceiling GI Sheet Replacement: For improved durability and appearance.
- Water Recycling Unit: Installed near PF1 public toilet to promote sustainability.
- New Furniture in Offices: Better workspace for improved administrative support.

4. Matunga station
Enhanced Passenger Amenities at Matunga – India’s First All-Women Operated Station of Mumbai Division of Central Railway

Total Project cost 17.28 crore
Matunga Station continues to lead by example with a host of new passenger-friendly upgrades:
- Station Beautification: Entire premises refreshed with aesthetic improvements and clean surroundings.
- New Escalator: Installed on Platforms 1 & 2 for easy and safe access.
- Green Wall & Selfie Point: Eco-friendly vertical garden with a selfie spot adds charm and engagement.
- Lush Plantation: Vibrant greenery across the station enhances the passenger environment.
- Improved Roofing: Elevated and modern roofing over FOB and escalator area for better coverage.
- Platform Elevation: PF 3 & 4 elevated to improve boarding comfort and safety.
- PF 1 Tiling & Guidelines: Newly tiled platform with clear navigation markings.
- Upgraded Toilets: Elevated toilet block with modern amenities and Divyang-friendly facilities.
- New Water Points: Installed at both ends of Platforms 1 & 2 for convenient access to drinking water.
- Roofing Over PF 1 & 2: New shelter for improved passenger comfort during all seasons.
- SM Office Renovation: Station Master's office modernized for better administration.
- New Office Furniture: Upgraded workspaces for improved staff efficiency.


5. Shahad station - Passenger-Friendly Upgrades at Shahad Station of Mumbai Division of Central Railway

Total Project Cost 8.39 crore
Shahad Station has been upgraded with several new features to enhance comfort, aesthetics, and convenience:
- Attractive Entrance Gates: Redesigned entries at Platforms 1 & 2 offer a welcoming look.
- Tree Plantation: Beautiful greenery developed opposite the booking counter, adding to the station’s charm.
- Wall Garden with Lighting: Platform 1 wall adorned with plantation and illuminated for a vibrant appearance.
- Modernized Ticket Counter: Renovated with updated facilities for a smoother passenger experience.
- Fully Concreted Parking Areas: Easy and clean access for vehicles across three developed parking zones.
- LED Lights & Fans on Platforms: Platforms 1 & 2 now well-lit and ventilated for passenger comfort.
- Deluxe Toilets: Equipped with modern amenities, ensuring hygiene and accessibility.
- Clean & Eco-Friendly Atmosphere: Focus on maintaining a green, neat, and commuter-friendly environment


6. Lasalgaon - Upgraded Passenger Facilities at Lasalgaon Station of Bhusawal Division of Central Railway

Total Project Cost 30.14 crore.
Lasalgaon Station has undergone extensive development to enhance passenger convenience and station functionality:
- New Booking & PRS Building: Modern structure catering to both ticketing and reservation services.
- Platform Renovation: Surface upgraded with durable Kota stone tiling for a clean and safe look.
- Water Stand: Improved access to clean drinking water.
- Platform Sheds, Fans & Lights: Enhanced comfort with better shelter and lighting on all platforms.
- Announcement System with NTES: Real-time train information for passenger ease.
- New First-Class Waiting Hall: Comfortable and upgraded waiting space for premium travellers.
- Coach Indicator System: LED-based indicators for coach positioning.
- IVD (Integrated Video Display System): Seamless digital display of train-related information.
- New VIP Room & SM Office: Renovated administrative area for efficient operations.
- Seating Upgrades:
- 30 stainless steel benches
- Granite-type benches under development
- Proposed Retiring Room: Planned facility for passenger rest in the new building.
- Circulating Area Development:
- GSI with asphalt
- GSII with concrete paving
- Improved Road Connectivity: Developed connecting roads to both loading spurs.
- High Mast Flag & Lighting Towers: Symbolic and practical enhancements to station aesthetics and visibility.
- Entrance Gate Development: Upgraded gateway for a welcoming first impression.
- New Borewell: Ensuring consistent water supply, providing significant relief to passengers and staff.


7. Devlali - Upgraded Passenger Amenities at Devlali Station of Bhusawal Division of Central Railway.

Total Project Cost 10.44 crore
Devlali Station has seen a major transformation with modern infrastructure and improved commuter convenience:
- Circulating Area & Parking: Expanded and well-developed for smooth traffic flow and better passenger movement.
- New Entry Gate & Porch: Enhanced facade for a more welcoming station entrance.
- Platform Improvements:
- Resurfaced platforms
- Extended COP for better shelter and passenger comfort
- Divyangjan Facilities:
- Renovated accessible toilets
- Two new water stands for specially-abled passengers
- New Booking Office: Constructed for improved ticketing services.
- Garden Landscaping: Beautiful green areas developed in the circulating zone.
- Office Upgrades: Improved workspaces for better operational efficiency.
- Passenger-Friendly Additions:
- Two lifts for better platform accessibility
- Executive lounge, SS & Reservation Office now air-conditioned
- Power & Lighting Enhancements:
- 62.5 KVA DG set with AMF panel
- 2 High Mast and 2 Stadium Mast lights
- Auto-dimmable lights at PFs, FOBs, and offices
- Garden lights and octagonal poles for aesthetic illumination
- Improved Signage & Identity:
- New signage boards
- Trilingual station name boards for better visibility and inclusivity
- Reliable Power Supply:
- New substation
- Enhanced cable and panel-based supply system



8. Savda - Enhanced Passenger Amenities at Savda Station of Bhusawal Division of Central Railway
Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi laid the Foundation stone for Redevelopment of Savda station on 26.02.2024
Total Project Cost 8.11 crore
Savda Station has been upgraded with a focus on passenger comfort, accessibility, and cleanliness:
- Modern Information Systems
- New PA system (NTES-based)
- Coach display boards and platform indicator boards for real-time train updates
- Toilet Facilities
- Ladies Toilets – 2 (one on each platform)
- Gents Toilets – 2 (one on each platform)
- Divyang Toilets – 2 (accessible on both platforms)
- Drinking Water
- Water cooler provided at Platform 1
- Seating and Waiting Facilities
- 16 new steel benches (each for 3 passengers)
- One waiting hall for General II class passengers
- Cleanliness and Aesthetics
- 8 new SS dustbins
- Platform surfaces upgraded with granite fittings
- Accessibility
- Foot Over Bridge (FOB) with shaded stairs for safer and more comfortable movement


9. Dhule - Enhanced Passenger Amenities at Dhule Station of Bhusawal Division of Central Railway

Dhule Station has undergone significant upgradation to enhance commuter experience and overall station aesthetics:

- New general toilets for gents and ladies

10. Murtizapur - Upgraded Passenger Amenities at Murtizapur Station of Bhusawal Division of Central Railway

Total Project Cost 7.68 crore
Significant infrastructure development has enhanced the convenience, safety, and aesthetics of Murtizapur Station:
1. Passenger Interface & Accessibility
- New Booking Office Building
- Two Entry/Exit Gates for smooth passenger flow
- Three Lifts for easy platform access
- Circulating & Parking Area: Developed over 1600 sq.m
2. Platform Facilities
- Water Stands: 5 on Platform 1
- New Toilet Blocks: 1 each on PF 1 & PF 2
- COP Sheds:
- PF 1 – 1900 sq.m
- PF 2 – 2100 sq.m
- Platform Surfacing:
- PF 1 – 4000 sq.m
- PF 2 – 5500 sq.m
3. Building & Office Renovation
- Renovated Rooms on PF 1 (10 rooms):
- VIP Room, SM Office, OS Office, Gents & Ladies Waiting Rooms, SSE/Telecom, SSE/S&T (2 rooms)
- Renovated Rooms on PF 2 (2 rooms):
- Gents & Ladies Waiting Rooms
4. Lighting & Infrastructure
- High Mast Light and Stadium Mast installed
- Flag Mast provided
- New Electric Substation Building for improved power reliability
5. Perimeter Development
- Compound Wall constructed over 250 meters for security



11. Kedgaon - Upgraded Passenger Amenities at Kedgaon Station (Pune Division)

Total Project Cost 12.55 crore
Kedgaon Station has undergone key improvements to enhance the travel experience for passengers through better infrastructure and modern facilities:
1. Passenger Access & Interface
- New Booking Office developed for streamlined ticketing services
- Improved Circulating Area with proper layout for passenger movement and parking
2. Platform Upgradation
- Platform Surface Renovation for smooth passenger movement
- New COP (Covered Overhead Platform) Sheds to provide shelter from sun and rain
- Installation of LED Lights & Ceiling Fans on platforms for better illumination and comfort
3. Drinking Water & Sanitation
- New Drinking Water Points installed for passenger convenience
- Construction of Pay & Use Toilets, including Divyangjan-friendly toilet facilities
4. Safety & Communication
- PA System (NTES-based) installed for real-time train announcements
- Coach Guidance Display Boards and Platform Indicator Boards for train information
- New Signage Boards provided across the station premises for easy navigation
5. Aesthetic Enhancements
- Tree Plantation & Green Patches developed around the station
- Station Beautification Work undertaken including improved entrance gate and painting
6. Furniture & Amenities
- New SS Benches and Dustbins provided on platforms and waiting areas
- Waiting Hall upgraded for General Class passengers

12. Lonand
Upgraded Passenger Amenities at Lonand Station (Pune Division)
PM Shri NarendraModi laid the Foundation stone for Redevelopment of Lonand station on 26.02.2024
Total Project Cost 10.48 crore
Significant development works have been carried out at Lonand Station to enhance commuter convenience, safety, and overall travel experience.
1. Passenger Interface & Access
- New Booking Office with modern counters and better queuing space
- Improved Circulating Area with dedicated entry/exit for smoother passenger flow
2. Platform Facilities
- Platform Surfacing Improved for safe and comfortable movement
- COP (Covered Platform Sheds) extended to provide weather protection
- New Seating Arrangements with steel and granite benches installed
- Installation of LED Lighting & Ceiling Fans for bright, energy-efficient environment
3. Water & Sanitation
- Drinking Water Points installed on platforms
- Pay & Use Toilets constructed including Divyangjan-friendly facilities on all platforms
4. Information Systems
- PA System (NTES-based) for accurate and timely train announcements
- Coach Guidance System and Platform Indicator Boards introduced
- Signage Boards across the premises for better passenger orientation
5. Beautification & Safety
- Entrance Gate Beautification with artistic facade work
- Green Landscaping & Tree Plantation around station and platforms
- New Sign Boards in Trilingual Format
- New Flag Mast and High Mast Lighting installed for aesthetics and security
6. Additional Amenities
- Waiting Room Facilities upgraded for General passengers
- Dustbins placed at reasonable distance for cleanliness
- Electric Substation provided for uninterrupted power supply
The redevelopment of these stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme marks a transformative step in passenger experience enhancement, accessibility, and integration with the urban landscape. Central Railway continues to play a pivotal role in realizing the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of modern, inclusive, and passenger-centric railway infrastructure.
