The School of International Cooperation, Security and Strategic Languages (SICSSL) at Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, successfully organized a two-day Japanese Caravan on 'India–Japan Cultural Diplomacy' in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, New Delhi. The event brought together academic and cultural stakeholders to celebrate the enduring friendship between India and Japan through language immersion sessions, cultural demonstrations, and interactive engagements.

The program was graced by a distinguished delegation from the Japan Foundation, including Mr. Koji Sato, Director General, and Japanese language coordinators Ms. Kyoko, Ms. Kanako, Ms. Ishmeet Kaur, and Ms. Meeli, who shared invaluable insights into Japanese culture and linguistic practices with students and faculty. The program featured engaging activities including Interactive Japanese Language Sessions, Traditional Calligraphy Workshops, Yukata Trials, Origami Demonstrations, and Cultural Games, offering RRU participants an immersive experience of Japanese culture.

Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh Wandra, Pro-Vice Chancellor, RRU, highlighted, “The Japan Caravan is more than just an academic exercise, it is a cultural celebration. Through workshops, exhibitions, and interactive exchanges, it aims to deepen our understanding and appreciation of Japan’s rich traditions and values, while opening new doors for collaboration.”

Dr. Aparna Varma, Director, SICSSL, added, “India and Japan have always shared a special relationship, one that is built not only on strategic cooperation but also on a deep foundation of cultural and spiritual ties. From the arrival of Buddhism in Japan in ancient times to modern initiatives in education, art, and innovation, our two countries continue to engage meaningfully and respectfully. This event is a reflection of that shared journey of people-to-people diplomacy.”

The Japanese Caravan marked a meaningful milestone in promoting cultural diplomacy and fostering greater educational and interpersonal connections between the two nations, in alignment with RRU’s mission of global engagement and international cooperation.
