India Post started 'Gyan Post' Service at affordable prices for Educational Books and Socio-Cultural literature
'Gyan Post' service shows the commitment of the Department of Posts with the concept of 'Har Ghar Gyan, Har Sapne Ko Udaan ' - Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav

India Post started 'Gyan Post Service' on 01st May 2025 to send the books and study material at low cost. Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that under 'Gyan Post', books related to Educational boards, Universities, Autonomous and Statutory bodies recognized by Government, textbooks used by candidates of various competitive examinations and literature related to social, cultural and religious nature issued or published as per the relevant law of the country can be sent by Post. Gyan Post should be marked on all such packets. Books and Printed Educational materials sent under 'Gyan Post' can be tracked. It is transported by surface means to ensure low cost effective distribution. The minimum chargeable weight limit is 300 grams and maximum weight limit is 5 kg. The Postage Charge starts from Rs 20 and goes up to a maximum of Rs 100 (Taxes as applicable).

Postmaster General, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav also said that this service of 'Gyan Post' reflects the continued commitment of India Post to support education and reach out to learners in every part of the country with the concept of 'Har Ghar Gyan, Har Sapne Ko Udaan'. Education is the basis of a strong future but access to learning resources should not depend on geographical condition or affordability. 'Gyan Post' has been introduced with the belief that a textbook, a guide book or a cultural literature will benefit people by reaching the last mile through the post offices at affordable rates.
It is worth noting that only non-commercial, educational material can be sent under 'Gyan Post'. Commercial or commercial publications, or publications containing Advertisements (other than incidental announcements or book lists) will not be accepted under this service. Each book must carry the name of the printer or publisher as per the prescribed conditions.
With the launch of 'Gyan Post', Students, teachers and readers have started visiting the post offices to get information about it. In North Gujarat Region, Kadva Patel B.Ed College, Visnagar, Mahesana was the first to book a parcel under 'Gyan Post' from the Mahesana Head Post Office. At the same time, Mr. Prince Makwana was the first to book Gyan Post from Gandhinagar Head Post Office. Along with this, all the Divisions of North Gujarat Region also started publicizing this new service and encouraged people to take advantage of this service.
