WAVE Summit set to give boost to Indian Media & Entertainment Industry
Tamang Selo, Traditional Tribal Folk Dance from Sikkim to be showcased at WAVES 2025

Press Information Bureau (PIB), Gangtok, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, hosted a Press Varta today at the Press Club of Sikkim, Gangtok. The event provided media professionals with a detailed briefing on the upcoming World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, a premier platform for India's entertainment and creative industries to converge and showcase their talents globally.
Shri Manas Pratim Sarma, Assistant Director, PIB and Akashvani News Gangtok, addressed the gathering and informed that "Tamang Selo", a traditional tribal folk dance from Sikkim, will be showcased as part of the WAVES Cultural and Concerts 2025 on May 3, 2025, at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai.

Shri Sarma further informed the participants that the WAVE Summit scheduled to take place in Mumbai from May 1-4, 2025, will showcase India's growing media and entertainment industry, highlighting its potential for growth, innovation, and collaboration. The summit will bring together global industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to converge, discuss, and deliberate on the future of the industry.
He also remarked that this summit is a unique platform to connect creators across countries and foster international collaboration in the media and entertainment sector. The summit will bring together creative professionals, policymakers, industry leaders, technology companies, startups, and investors on a single platform.

Shri Sarma requested the media fraternity of Sikkim to play a pivotal role in encouraging young content creators from Sikkim to be part of this iconic initiative. He also spoke about the Bharat Pavilion, a vibrant tribute to the country's profound legacy of storytelling and its growing influence in the global media and entertainment landscape.
Smt. Sarojini Subba, Senior District Information Officer, Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Sikkim, present at the VARTA, addressed the gathering and informed that the WAVES Summit is a global event and a big opportunity for creators to showcase their content to a larger audience.

She requested media professionals from the digital and social media space to cover the event extensively in their news pages, as young generation creators are more involved in the digital world. She also requested Akashvani Gangtok to spread the news to every corner of the state.
Smt. Subba added that there are many young digital creator talents in Sikkim, and being part of such an initiative would help them gain experience and refine their talents. She also requested the participants to follow the pages of PIB and the Ministry of I&B and keep themselves updated about WAVES activities.
The session was attended by officials from PIB, Akashvani News Gangtok, and several regional print and digital media houses. The interactive session that followed provided a valuable opportunity for media professionals to engage with officials, clarify doubts, and gain insights into WAVES 2025.
