NIT Goa Secures ₹19.53 Crore Research Grant under ANRF’s PAIR Program in Collaboration with IIT Bombay

The National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa) has been awarded a significant research grant of ₹19.53 crore under the newly launched Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR) program by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). As one of the seven SPOKE Institutes, NIT Goa is partnering with IIT Bombay, the central HUB institution, to foster advanced research and innovation in the fields of Industry 4.0 and Energy & Sustainability.
The PAIR program is a strategic initiative by ANRF to enhance research capabilities in India’s higher education ecosystem by fostering collaboration among premier institutions. The total proposed funding under the program is ₹144 crore over the next five years, which will be utilized by IIT Bombay and its seven SPOKE institutions—NIT Goa, College of Engineering Pune, Mumbai University, IIIT Pune, IIIT Nagpur, MS University Baroda, and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.
At NIT Goa, the initiative is led by Dr. Chirag Modi, Dean (Research and Consultancy) and faculty member in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. He is joined by a dynamic team of interdisciplinary faculty members including Dr. Damodar Reddy Edla, Dr. Pravati Swain, Dr. Nithin Kumar Y. B., Dr. Suresh Mikkili, Dr. C. Vyjayanthi, Dr. Sreeraj E S, Dr. Soumitra Das, Dr. Harikumar M, and Dr. Ravi Prasad K J. The team represents departments spanning Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Civil Engineering, and Applied Sciences.
This landmark collaboration will strengthen NIT Goa’s research ecosystem, foster capacity building, modernize research infrastructure, and promote mentorship and innovation. It opens up new avenues for impactful research in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Electric Vehicles, Cybersecurity, Data Centers, Signal Processing, Sustainability, and the resolution of regional issues through interdisciplinary studies.
Professor O. R. Jaiswal, Director of NIT Goa, expressed his pride and optimism about the initiative. "This is a landmark achievement for NIT Goa. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire research team. This collaboration will give a major impetus to research culture at NIT Goa and position us to contribute meaningfully to the regional and national innovation system," he said.
With this new partnership, NIT Goa aims to become a significant contributor to India’s vision for innovation-led growth in science and technology.
