Training of NSS for Socio- Economic 80th Round under Health and Education survey kickstarts

The Government of India is conducting National Sample Surveys to collect the data on various socio-economic indicators employing scientific sampling methods since 1950. The eightieth round (80th) of NSS scheduled to commence from 1 January 2025 is earmarked for collection of data on health and ‘Comprehensive modular survey’ for collection of information on health and telecom related indicators.
The survey on ‘household Social Consumption Health’ is introduced to cater the emerging need of information on socio-economic indicators. This survey will help us in the determination of the prevalence rate of morbidity among various age groups in different regions of the country and the expenditure incurred on treatment received from public and private medical sector with special emphasis on ‘out of pocket expense’ , are all to be investigated by the survey. The data collected in the survey will also enable assessment of the population who are affected by some widespread communicable diseases.
The Objective of the Comprehensive Modular Survey (CMS) on education is to collect and provide information on education -related indicators. The collected data will also be used for reporting of global indices by line ministries/departments.
To discuss the various aspects of survey, a two-day conference for officers of National Statistics Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation who will be conducting the survey in the Punjab North Region will be held from 08th April, 2025 at National Statistics office, Regional Office Jalandhar. The conference will be inaugurated by Smt. Pallavi Agrawal Srivastva Joint Director & Regional Head of Punjab (North) of the Field Operations Division (FOD) of NSO in the presence of Shri Harbilas, Deputy Director NSO Regional office Jalandhar, Ms. Harsha Chadha Assistant Director, at NSO SRO Amritsar, Shri Gurpreet Singh Assistant Director, at NSO SRO Hoshiarpur.
