Tree plantation and awareness program organized in Kolar village on the occasion of 75th anniversary of National Sample Survey

A special tree plantation program was organized in Kolar village on the occasion of 75th anniversary of National Sample Survey (NSS). Deputy Director General of National Statistical Office (NSO), Raipur, Shri Altaf Hussain Haji and all the employees actively participated in this program. On this occasion, the message of environmental protection was given by planting trees and people were made aware for a green future. Village Sarpanch, Panch members and public representatives of Janpad Panchayat, Abhanpur were present in the program.

Addressing the program, Deputy Director General of National Statistical Office (NSO), Raipur, Shri Altaf Hussain Haji highlighted the importance of NSS surveys in rural areas and said that data-based information plays an important role in policy making and national development. Shri Haji said that accurate data collection ensures welfare schemes for the rural population.

The highlight of the event was a spectacular theatrical performance that effectively presented the significance of the National Sample Survey, surveys since Independence. The play showcased how data collection determines the direction of national development, leading to the upliftment of rural areas.

The event proved to be a successful amalgamation of environmental protection and public awareness, highlighting the important role of the National Sample Survey and taking a significant step towards the bright future of rural India.

The National Sample Survey (NSS), now part of the National Statistical Office (NSO), has been playing a vital role in data collection and socio-economic surveys in India since its inception in 1950. To mark the 75th anniversary of the NSS, various events are being organised across the country, especially at the Field Work Division (FOD) offices located in state capitals.

 

The events are aimed at highlighting the statistical excellence of the organisation and its contribution to policy decisions. Also, this is an occasion to honour the hard work of the field staff and statisticians and their role in accurate data collection.
