The Prime Minister's Internship Scheme (PMIS), recently launched in Union Budget of 2024-25 is aimed at providing internship opportunities to one crore youth between the age of 21 to 24 over the next five years. This initiative will offer hands-on exposure to real-life business environment across various industries for a duration of 12 months. This scheme is being implemented by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and its officers of the Indian Corporate Law Service (I.C.L.S.) Cadre. Regional Directorate- Northwestern is the key agency for implementation at the regional level.

The scheme targets individuals aged 21 to 24 who are currently not enrolled in any full-time academic program or employment, offering them a unique chance to kick-start their careers. This is distinctive scheme which provides them with 12 month paid internships in top companies of India. This scheme aims at making India the ‘Skill Capital of the World”.

Key Benefits under the PM Internship Scheme:

Monthly Assistance: Rs. 5,000 per month for 12 months.

One-time Grant: Rs. 6,000 for incidental expenses.

Professional experience (at least six months)

Certificate of internship from the top 300 companies

The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) is once again open for applications with the launch of Round 2 of the pilot phase. After more than 6 lakh applications in Round 1, Round 2 offers more than 1 lakh+ internship opportunities in top companies across more than 730 districts in India.

Pilot Round 2 is live as of today and the last date to apply has been extended to 31st March 2025. In round 2, each applicant can apply to up to 3 internships until the application deadline. A candidate is free to apply to any internship anywhere in India.

There are 25,338 opportunities offered by top companies in the four states falling under the jurisdiction of Regional Director-Northwest region, Ahmedabad. Chhattisgarh alone has a total of 3,399 opportunities spread across its districts which are being offered by the top companies of the country.

Leading Companies such as Jindal Steel & power Limited., South Eastern Coalfields Limited., NMDC Limited., Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.and NTPC Limited are offering internships in Chhattisgarh in this round.

Several IEC campaigns have been organized by the Regional Directorate under the leadership of Mr. M. K. Sahu, Regional Director- Northwestern, across various districts of Chhattisgarh to encourage the youth for availing benefit under this scheme.
