The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Mumbai Branch Office-II conducted a successful search and seizure operation on March 5, 2025, in Bhiwandi leading to the confiscation of 109 counterfeit Domestic Electric Food Mixers from M/s RBH Enterprises.

The seized goods included electrical food mixers bearing multiple brand names, some with the ISI mark and others without it. These products were being manufactured and sold without a valid BIS (ISI MARK) Certification Marks license, in violation of Section 17 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. Under Section 17, in conjunction with Section 29 of the BIS Act, criminal action will be pursued against the company. BIS is also taking action against e-commerce platforms where these counterfeit products are being sold. The BIS Act stipulates penalties that may include imprisonment for up to two years and fines starting at two lakh rupees for the first offense, with increasing penalties for subsequent violations, potentially up to ten times the value of the counterfeit goods.

The BIS regularly conducts such search and seizure operations to protect consumers from substandard products. To safeguard against the purchase of counterfeit goods, consumers are encouraged to verify the status of the product’s BIS license via the BIS Care App. If the license is found to be suspended, deferred or expired, consumers are advised to file a complaint.

Consumers who encounter misuse of the BIS Standard marks, including the ISI mark, BIS registration mark, BIS Hallmark or BIS management systems certifications are urged to report it through the BIS Care App or by sending an email or letter to the Bureau. The details of all complaints will remain confidential.
