Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviews ongoing redevelopment work at Ahmedabad railway station today
New station will reflect the heritage of Ahmedabad: Ashwini Vaishnaw

The Union Minister of Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw today reviewed the ongoing redevelopment initiatives at Ahmedabad Railway Station. During his visit, Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw informed that design of the new station premises will reflect the rich heritage of Ahmedabad.
Shri Vaishnaw said, "Ahmedabad is a city of great historical and cultural importance. The redevelopment of the railway station will include architectural elements inspired by the city's heritage such as the swinging minarets in the city, the toran entrance gate, the kite festival, etc.

He also added that this approach is in line with the Prime Minister’s commitment to preserve the cultural fabric of modern India. The redevelopment project is a part of the Indian Railways' ambitious Amrut Bharat Station Project, which aims to transform over 1,300 railway stations across the country. Highlighting the vision of the new project, Shri Vaishnav added that the upgraded station will also provide world-class facilities while contributing to the status of Ahmedabad as a global heritage city. The minister's visit underlines the government's dedication to balancing modernisation with cultural preservation in infrastructure projects.

The Minister informed the media that 97 per cent electrification of rail lines has been achieved in Gujarat till now and Gujarat will very soon have 100 per cent electrified railway lines. Reiterating the Union government’s commitment to the development of Gujarat, the Minister said Gujarat has been allocated with a record 17 thousand 155 crore budget for railway development. Investment worth 1 lakh 27 thousand crore is taking place in Gujarat in railways.

The Minister informed that the production of engines will start soon at the Dahod factory where the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi had laid the foundation. He said the entire redevelopment project will integrate various elements of the work keeping in view the welfare of the passengers. The work on the bullet train project is on fast track in Gujarat, he said. Senior officials of the Western Railway were present on the occasion.
