On February 24, 2025, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released the much-awaited 19th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme during an event held in Bhagalpur, Bihar. This move marked a significant moment for millions of farmers and their families. Through a single click, over ₹22,000 crore was transferred through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to the Bank accounts of more than 9.8 crore beneficiaries, including 2.41 crore women farmers. Now, beneficiary farmers can withdraw this amount from their bank accounts directly at their doorstep.

In this regard, Postmaster General of North Gujarat & Saurashtra and Kutch Region Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that beneficiary farmers can withdraw the DBT amount received in their bank accounts through postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks at their doorstep. For this, farmers need not to visit any bank branch or ATM. An amount of upto ₹ 10,000 can be withdrawn in a day from any Aadhaar linked bank account through Aadhaar Enabled Payment System at doorstep. The Post Office does not charge any fee for this service. Additionally, the Department of Posts offers the facility of linking/updating mobile number with Aadhaar for farmers benefiting from PM KISAN scheme. This is to complete e-KYC, through India Post Payment Bank.
It is to mention that Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi was launched in February 2019 to meet the financial needs of farmers. Under this scheme, beneficiary farmers receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 every year. This amount is transferred to their accounts through DBT in three installments of ₹ 2,000 each at an interval of every 4 months through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) method.
Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav added that currently, the amount is being dispersed to the beneficiaries under various welfare schemes of the Central and State Governments through the Post Office and India Post Payments Bank. These schemes include the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Ganga Swarupa Yojana, Scholarships, Namo Laxmi Scholarship Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, and Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme etc.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, ₹3,252 crore has been deposited in over 1.62 crore accounts at India Post Payments Bank. With a 14.7% market share, this is the second-largest amount deposited in any bank. This achievement reflects the government's ongoing efforts to provide financial aid to farmers and taking significant steps towards their financial empowerment.
To avail the benefits of the PM-KISAN scheme installment, it is mandatory for the bank account to be linked with the Aadhaar card. Additionally, the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) option should be enabled in the bank account. Once these requirements are fulfilled, the farmer will be eligible to receive the installment under the scheme.
