‘Game Forge’ programs organised under WAVES help students learn about technological advancements in gaming sector


Over 2000 attend the events held in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad to learn about breakthroughs in Handheld Gaming Technology

WAVES to revolutionize India’s gaming industry with cutting-edge skill development

Mumbai, 18 February 2025

The Indian Digital Gaming Society (IDGS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, organized a series of events as part of the outreach programs on World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) to encourage innovation in India's digital gaming sector, in different cities of the country.

A four-day program named ‘Game Forge’, a pioneering skill-sync initiative by IDGS, concluded on 15th February 2025 at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Hyderabad. Earlier, the IDGS had organised similar events at Saveetha Engineering College, Chennai, on 10th February; RNS First Grade College, Bengaluru, on 12th February; and Anurag University, Hyderabad, on 14th February. One of the key highlights of the programs was the introduction of the students to the Innovate2Educate Handheld Device Competition, where participants were encouraged to come with innovative gaming devices aimed at transforming digital learning experiences.

Game Forge at Saveetha Engineering College, Chennai

The Game Forge program kicked off at Saveetha Engineering College in Chennai on 10th February 2025, with a focus on the future of gaming, VFX, and virtual production. Industry leaders such as Mr. Srikanth V, CEO of ICT Academy, and Mr. Shiv Shankar, Virtual Production Mentor at Cinema Factory Academy, led discussions on the integration of Unreal Engine and in-camera VFX technologies, which are revolutionizing film production and interactive media. The event also had an online session by the representative from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting highlighting how WAVES and Innovate2Educate are aimed at transforming education and gaming.

Game Forge at RNS First Grade College, Bengaluru

On 12th February 2025, RNS First Grade College in Bengaluru hosted an enriching SkillSync workshop that explored career opportunities within the gaming industry. The workshop’s panel included notable experts like Mr. Biplove Belwal, CEO of NukeBox Studio, and Mr. Yogesh Nagdev, Desktop Channel Marketing Manager at NVIDIA India. They shared valuable insights into game design, programming languages, and user experience (UI/UX), emphasizing the interdisciplinary nature of the gaming industry.

The event aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that students were well-equipped with the required skills to succeed in the fast-growing gaming sector.

Game Forge at Anurag University, Hyderabad

Anurag University in Hyderabad hosted a compelling session on 14th February 2025, focusing on the future of gaming and animation. Mr. Subash Sapru, Head of IDGS, spoke on India's potential as a global leader in mobile gaming innovation. The event provided expert insights on the evolving role of advanced graphics, artificial intelligence (AI), and their impact on the gaming and animation industries.

Discussions explored topics such as game design, market expansion, and AI-driven game experiences, reinforcing India’s growing role in shaping the future of digital entertainment.

Game Forge at NMIMS, Hyderabad

The Game Forge initiative concluded on 15th February 2025 at NMIMS Hyderabad, with a special session on the intersection of gaming, AI, and content creation. Experts such as Mr. Yogesh Nagdev from NVIDIA India and Mr. Vikas Hisariya from Vishal Peripherals delved into the transformative power of AI in gaming, from enhanced realism to AI-driven game design.

The session explored the evolving role of AI in gaming and career pathways in AI, gaming, and content creation, further highlighting the importance of bridging the gap between industry needs and academic education.

The success of Game Forge reaffirms the importance of initiatives bridging industry and academia, empowering the next generation with the skills needed to thrive in the dynamic digital entertainment sector.

The events were held to create awareness about WAVES, which is scheduled to be held in Mumbai from May 1 to 4, 2025.  The summit will be a global platform for the latest advancements in audio-visual technology, immersive entertainment, innovative comics design, and content creation using AI and other traditional as well as modern tools. The event will bring together industry leaders, stakeholders and innovators to discuss prospects, challenges, promote global trade and influence the sector’s future.
