Customs officers at CSMI Airport, Mumbai, seize cocaine worth Rs. 16.49 Crore; One passenger arrested

Customs officers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (CSMI) Airport, Mumbai, seized a total of 1.649 kilograms of narcotic drugs valued at approximately Rs. 16.49 Crore. On the night of 27thJanuary 2025, acting on profiling and specific intelligence, Customs officers intercepted a passenger arriving in Mumbai from Sao Paulo (Brazil) via Paris. Over the course of a 5-day operation, officers recovered 170 capsules containing a white, crumbled substance, suspected to be cocaine. The substance was ingested as well as concealed inside the passenger’s body cavity. The accused passenger was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
