NTPC WR-I Headquarters Hosts the 22nd Regional Professional Circle Convention

NTPC Western Region-I Headquarters (WR-I HQs) hosted the 22nd Regional Professional Circle (PC) Convention today, marking a significant step in fostering innovation and excellence across NTPC's operations. The event was inaugurated by Regional Executive Director (West-I), NTPC, Shri Kamlesh Soni who shared his insights on the evolving landscape of the energy sector and the pivotal role of innovation in driving organizational success.

In his opening address, Shri Kamlesh Soni welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of a spirit of innovation within NTPC. He highlighted that innovation is not only about technology but is deeply embedded in the values of every employee. He recalled that the Professional Circle movement was initiated by NTPC in 1999 to nurture this very spirit, which has since become a driving force for continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.

"Challenging times are ahead for NTPC due to factors such as Merit Order ratings, high Energy Charge Rate (ECR), high Auxiliary Power Consumption (APC) and rising coal consumption. However, we are committed to making our ECR competitive," said Shri Kamlesh Soni. He reiterated the role of the Professional Circle teams in NTPC’s quality movement, specifically focusing on environmental norms, fuel and water conservation and creative solutions to optimize heat rate, APC and coal consumption. Shri Soni concluded his address by appealing to the PC teams, departmental coordinators, HOPs and HODs, to support and encourage the Professional Circles in undertaking innovative projects that would enhance the operational competitiveness of NTPC’s stations in the Western Region.
The event also featured the esteemed panel of judges, who shared their thoughts on the significance of innovation and collaboration. Speaking at the event Regional Executive Director (West-I), Shri Kamlesh Soni said "Innovation is the cornerstone of our journey towards excellence. It is not just about technology, it’s about a mindset that drives us to constantly improve and create solutions that elevate NTPC to new heights." Former Member Secretary, Western Regional Power Committee, Shri Satyanarayan S spoke about the power of teamwork and knowledge sharing, noting that when individuals come together, leveraging their collective expertise, they unlock the full potential of innovation for the benefit of the entire organization. Regional Head of HR (West-I), Smt. Vandana Chaturvedi reinforced the idea that behind every successful initiative lies the commitment of people. She pointed out that the Professional Circle teams exemplify this spirit, actively engaging in problem-solving and shaping the future of NTPC through their ideas and contributions.

A total of 16 teams with 56 participants from six stations/projects of Western Region-I participated in the convention. Teams from NTPC Solapur, Kawas, Mouda, Jhanor, NTPC Anta, RGPPL, and WR-I HQ took part in the event, with three teams from each of NTPC Solapur, Kawas, Mouda, and Jhanor, two teams from NTPC Anta, one team from RGPPL, and one team from WR-I HQs. The event concluded with Shri Kamlesh Soni formally declaring the Western Region Level PC Convention open, wishing all the participating team’s success in their endeavours.
