National Thermal Power Corporation, Western Region-I Headquarters Celebrates 76th Republic Day

On the 76th Republic Day, NTPC Western Region-I celebrated the occasion with pride and enthusiasm at its headquarters in Mumbai. Shri Kamlesh Soni, the Regional Executive Director of NTPC Western Region-I, addressed the employees and their families, reflecting on the company’s achievements and the importance of this national occasion.
NTPC’s Achievements and Future Plans
Shri Soni shared key achievements of NTPC, highlighting the company’s record-breaking performance in electricity production. So far in FY 2024-25, NTPC has produced over 350 billion units of electricity, with a Plant Load Factor (PLF) exceeding 90%. He also discussed NTPC’s target of achieving 130 GW power generation capacity by 2032, alongside expanding its renewable and nuclear energy sectors.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives
Shri Soni also highlighted the CSR projects across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, with a total investment of ₹58.36 crore. These projects focus on health, education, skill development, and sustainability, underscoring NTPC’s commitment to social well-being.
Awards and Recognitions
Shri Soni proudly mentioned that NTPC has been recognized as the "Top Employer 2025" by the Top Employers Institute and ranked 372nd in Forbes Global 2000 list. He also listed numerous prestigious awards won by the company in CSR and sustainability, including the Asia Best Employer Brand Award and the Golden Peacock OH&S Award.
Milestones in NTPC Western Region-I Projects
Shri Soni discussed the impressive performance of NTPC’s power plants in the Western Region-I, including the Mouda, Solapur, and Jhanor stations. Notably, Mouda and Solapur won the prestigious "Golden Power Award," while Jhanor and Anta received Safety and Environment Awards.
Social Initiatives and Community Engagement
The company’s focus on empowering communities through its social programs, like the Student Development Plan and Girl Empowerment Program, was highlighted. Shri Soni also mentioned a cancer screening initiative conducted for 5,000 police personnel in the Mira-Bhayandar area.
Focus on Safety and Sustainability
Shri Soni reaffirmed NTPC’s commitment to safety, announcing that the company aims for 100% ash utilization, zero accidents, and cost-effective electricity generation. He urged employees to work towards these challenging goals, contributing to the company’s success.
Corporate Communications Department’s Achievements
Shri Soni also acknowledged the accomplishments of NTPC’s Corporate Communications Department, which recently won awards at the 14th PRCI Excellence Awards 2024. The team received recognition in four categories: Education Campaign, Sustainability and Environmental Award, Change Communications Campaign, and Storytelling Award. NTPC Western Region-I Headquarters also won Third Prize for Best Skill Development Program at the 46th All India Public Relations Conference.
The ceremony concluded with recognition of the Sakhi Women’s Committee and Sampark Welfare Club for their contributions to NTPC’s initiatives and with the hoisting of the national flag and singing of patriotic songs, Shri Soni urged everyone to stay committed to integrity, innovation, and excellence, ensuring NTPC’s continued service to the nation.
