The Department of Education, AYJNISHD (D) Mumbai, in collaboration with the U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai, will host a program titled 'Fostering and Protecting Healthy Dissent in the Workplace' tomorrow (January 15, 2025) at its campus in Bandra (West), Mumbai.

This program is a step in fostering a positive and constructive approach to conflict in workplaces, especially in sectors serving individuals with Divyangjan. It aims to enhance communication and resolve disputes with empathy and clarity. The event will host around 60 participants, including faculty members from AYJNISHD (D), Mumbai, special educators and school principals from various special schools in Mumbai,and students of AYJNISHD pursuing Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Special Education, Audiology, and Speech-Language Pathology.

The session will be led by Ms Merri Hanson, a distinguished mediator, trainer, conflict coach, and organizational consultant, who is renowned for providing comprehensive conflict resolution services across a range of sectors, specializing in employment, workplace, EEO, and ADA disputes. Her consultancy work spans numerous federal agencies, including the Navy, Homeland Security, NASA, and the Department of Justice. Additionally, she offers virtual conflict resolution series for Department of Defense trainers worldwide.

Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan) – AYJNISHD (D), Mumbai, an autonomous body under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, is committed to fostering an inclusive and empowering environment. The institution's core objectives include manpower development, clinical services, research, outreach activities, and organizing awareness programs.
