Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the National Standards Body of our country mandated under the BIS Act 2016 to formulate Indian Standards for products, process and services covering different sectors of economy and is also responsible for devising and implementing Conformity Assessment Schemes, which involve quality certification to monitor the implementation of the Standards.

BIS Ahmedabad organized a "Manak Manthan" on 26th December 2024 on IS 15820:2024 Establishment and Operation of Assaying and Hallmarking Centres -General Requirements (first Revision)" at Hotel Sarovar Portico, Khanpur, Ahmedabad. All the Participants from Assaying and Hallmarking Centres from Ahmedabad jurisdiction participated in the programme and gave valuable feedback/suggestions. Manak Manthan is an event organized by BIS every month for discussion on the newly formulated Indian standard or standards under wide circulation.

Shri Sumit Sengar, Director & Head of BIS, Ahmedabad stressed upon the importance of Manak Manthan and its role in addressing standardization needs and aspirations of the industry.

Shri Ranul Pushkar, Scientist-D/Joint Director gave a presentation on BIS core activities, role of standards, Quality Control Orders and BIS online activities.

Shri Vipin Bhaskar, Scientist-D/Jcint Director gave a presentation on IS 15820:2024 Establishment and Operation of Assaying and Hallmarking Centres -General Requirements (first Revision) and also explained & discussed the changes made in IS15820.2024. In the last Shri Vipin Bhaskar thanked all the participants for their active participation and valuable suggestions. He informed that such suggestions make our Indian Standards more robust which help both the end user and also other stakeholders.
