Regional Training Camp for Socio-Economic Survey Field Functionaries of National Statistics Office at Chennai on 26th and 27th December

The National Statistics Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India has been in the service of the nation since 1950. It has been instrumental in developing a strong database on various Socio-Economic parameters through its countrywide sample surveys, which has helped the Central as well as State Governments in development of planning and policy formulations. The data made available by NSO through the surveys is widely used by planners and policy makers.
The National Statistics Office (NSO), will commence the NSS 80th RoundSocio-Economic Survey from 01.01.2025 onwards. The subjects under coverage in this Round are Survey on Household Social Consumption: Health and Comprehensive Modular Survey on Telecom (CMS-T).
The NSO and State Directorates of Economics & Statistics (DESs) will carry out the survey on health jointly for a period of one year starting from 1st January 2025. CMS-T will be conducted by the NSO during January-March, 2025. During the survey period, specially trained personnel of Field Operations Division (FOD) of the National Statistics Office will be visitingthe selected households and capture the required information directly on to the Tablet Computers.
Survey on Household Social Consumption: Health
The survey on health aims to generate basic quantitative information on the health sector. Primarily, indicators on morbidity, hospitalization rates, utilization of both public and private health care institutions, proportion of institutional childbirth etc. will be attempted to be derived from this survey data with special emphasis on ‘out of pocket expense’ as well as on access to government financed health insurance programmes.
The Comprehensive Modular Survey (CMS)
The Comprehensive Modular Survey (CMS)on Telecom will provide information on telecom-related indicators and ICT skills. The collected data will also be used for reporting of global indices by line Ministries/ Departments.
The survey will cover the whole of the Indian Union except the villages in Andaman and Nicobar Islands which are difficult to access.
Regional Training Camp (RTC)
The Tamil Nadu(North)Chennai Regional office of NSO will be conductingthe Regional Training Camp (RTC) for the NSS 80th Round Socio-Economic Survey on 26thand 27th of December 2024 at Hotel Mapel Tree, No.77, Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Vadapani, Chennai-600 026. The training camp is aimed at imparting training to the field functionaries for clear understanding of the concepts so as to facilitate in collection of qualitative data from the general public during the process of surveys andwill also provide a platform to discuss the various details regarding the upcoming surveys. Around 100 delegates/officials are expected to attend the said Regional Training Camp.
The General Public is requested to extend their fullest co-operation for NSS Surveys by providing relevant, valuable and factual information to the visiting field officials of NSO (FOD), and there by contribute their might towards the Nation Building Process.
