Vice President of India to Inaugurate State-of-the-art GSI Geoscience Museum in Gwalior on 15th December 2024

The Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, will inaugurate the GSI Geoscience Museum at the Victoria Market Building in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, on 15th December, 2024. The event will be graced by the presence of Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Mangubhai Patel, Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, Speaker of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar and Director General, Geological Survey of India, Shri Asit Saha along with other esteemed dignitaries.
Housed in the historic Victoria Market Building, this state-of-the-art museum is set to become a hub for geoscience education and public engagement. The GSI Geoscience Museum represents a unique initiative by the Geological Survey of India to showcase the wonders of Earth sciences, while promoting scientific temperament and knowledge-sharing among the public.
The museum features two galleries designed to raise awareness about Earth, Atmospheric, and Ocean Sciences, as well as the Evolution of Life. With cutting-edge exhibits, interactive installations, rare geological specimens, and multimedia displays, the museum promises to engage academicians, scientists, students, and the general public alike.
Developed in coordination with the Gwalior Municipal Corporation and the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), the museum represents GSI’s commitment to advancing geoscience literacy and sparking curiosity about the Earth and its resources.
