Promotion of Sea Plane/Cruise/Adventure Tourism

Ministry of Tourism promotes India in a holistic manner, through various initiatives. As part of its on-going activities; it regularly releases campaigns to promote various tourism destinations and products of India including Cruise-Tourism and Adventure Tourism.

To position India as a preferred destination for cruise tourism globally, Ministry of Tourism has drafted a National Strategy for Cruise Tourism.

Ministry of Tourism also provides financial assistance to the State Governments/UT Administrations and Central Government Agencies for development of tourism including Cruise Tourism and Cruising along rivers, under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme and scheme for ‘Assistance to Central Agencies for Tourism Infrastructure development’. The details of projects sanctioned for infrastructure development at Ports and Waterways under the scheme of Assistance to Central Agencies is given at Annexure-I and Annexure-II.

In order to provide impetus to the development of adventure tourism in the Country, National Strategy for adventure tourism has been prepared. The Strategy focuses on developing adventure destinations, promoting safety in adventure tourism, skill development, capacity building and marketing.

This information was given by Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.
