Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana

The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) is implemented in all States and Union Territories (UTs) of India for a period of five years from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25. Under PMMSY, during last four years (2020-21 to 2023-24) and current financial year (2024-25), the DoF, GoI has accorded approval to the fisheries developmental projects submitted by UT of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu at total cost of Rs.135.17 crore. The activities approved include construction of rearing ponds, grow out ponds, ornamental fish rearing units, cold storage, establishment of brood bank for seaweed, fish value added enterprise, transport vehicles, freshwater aquaculture etc. The approvals also include development of a smart and integrated fishing harbor at Vanakbara in Diu. The PMMSY is implemented though concerned State/UTs wherein the beneficiary selection and sanctioning of projects to beneficiaries are done by respective States/UTs.
The UT of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu has informed that as on date 10 beneficiaries have been benefited under PMMSY which includes 8 beneficiaries under input for freshwater aquaculture including composite fish culture and 2 beneficiaries for providing motor cycle with ice box as fish transport vehicles. The details of beneficiaries with names are Annexed.
The UT of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu has informed that 03 schemes other than PMMSY are being implemented by Fisheries Office of UT Admn. of DNH and Daman and Diu which are detailed below:
- Financial assistance to Boat owner/fishermen captured by Pakistan Marine Security Agency (PMSA): Financial assistance @ unskilled daily wages rates as applicable provided to families of fishermen those held 1st time captive/detained by PMSA, till their release. It is informed that since last seven years including current year 157 beneficiaries have been benefited under the scheme.
- Assistance to fishermen for purchase of Fisheries Requisites/ Equipment etc. which includes purchase of new Inboard motor (IBM) engine with maximum. cost up to Rs. 10.00 lakh with 10% maximum subsidy. Purchase of Electrical/Solar/ Battery equipment with maximum cost up to Rs. 0.50 lakh with 50% maximum subsidy. It is informed that since last seven years 275 beneficiaries have been benefited under the scheme.
- Financial assistance to the fishermen affected by Natural Calamities/ accident, wherein onetime assistance to the family member in case of death/missing of fisherman and onetime financial assistance to Boat Owner in case of total loss/damage or for repair of boat due to accident in sea/flood/fire or natural calamity is provided. The assistance is Rs.5.00 lakh for trawler/mechanized boat length 15 mts & above, Rs. 3.00 lakh for trawler/mechanized boat below 15 mts and Rs. 1.00 lakh for Motorized Outboard motors(OBM)/Inboard motors(IBM) upto 11 mts. The UT of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu has informed that under this activity since last seven years 36 beneficiaries have been benefited under the scheme.
