Religious Tourist Places

The Ministry of Tourism under its Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) Scheme aims to develop infrastructure at pre-identified religious and heritage sites across the country. Under the Scheme, the Ministry provides financial assistance to State Governments and Union Territory Administrations for the development of tourism infrastructure at these sites. Under the PRASHAD scheme the Ministry has sanctioned a total of 46 projects at a cost of ₹1605.20 crore across the country.
In addition, under Swadesh Darshan Scheme, the Ministry under various themes-based circuits like Spiritual Circuit, Buddhist Circuit, Heritage Circuit, Ramayana Circuit, etc., has sanctioned a total of 76 projects for Rs.5287.90 Crore.
Moreover, the Ministry, through its ongoing scheme of ‘Assistance to Central Agencies for Tourism Infrastructure Development’ extends financial assistance to Central Agencies for tourism infrastructure development.
The Ministry also regularly promotes various tourism destinations and products, including religious tourism, through its website and social media platforms.
