Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Shri K. Kailashnathan called upon students to actively participate in the ‘Create in India Challenge,’ launched by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting as part of the upcoming World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES). Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Gyan Kumbh’ National Academic Conclave, the Lt. Governor emphasized the importance of innovation and creativity in shaping the nation’s future.

The three-day conclave, organized by Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas in collaboration with the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Pondicherry University, highlighted the transformative role of education in fostering sustainable development and cultural integration. Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has set up a stall at the exhibition venue to spread awareness on WAVES.

In his inaugural address, the Lt. Governor highlighted the urgent need to promote Indian languages as mediums for modern science, technology, education, employment, justice and administration. He also stressed the importance of creating content and advancing technologies in Indian languages. The Lt. Governor underlined that education should play a transformative role in integrating communities that have been marginalized due to socio-economic and geographical diversity. He called for a shift from the colonial-era education system to one that focuses on building character and fostering holistic development.

 

The Lt. Governor outlined five societal transformations that he believes are essential for the well-being of the nation. These included promoting peaceful coexistence among different sections of society, encouraging value-based family life, adopting eco-friendly lifestyles, ensuring sustainable production and consumption practices, and fostering a strong sense of responsible citizenship. Shri Kailashnathan also envisioned Puducherry as a future model of new education, Centre for unity of Indian languages and a role model in the implementation of National Education Policy.  Remembering world class Indian figures in the arena of modern science like Srinivasa Ramanujan, C.V. Raman and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he underscored the need to bring the new generation closer to the success stories of today.

Shri A. Namassivayam, Minister for Education, Puducherry presided over the inaugural ceremony. Shri R. Selvam, Speaker, Puducherry Legislative Assembly, Dr. Tharanikkarasu, Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge), Pondicherry University, Dr. Athul Kothari, National Secretary, Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Sivagnana Palaya Swamigal of Mailam Bommapura Aadheenam, Ramanantha Kumaragurbara Swamigal of Coimbatore Siravai Aadheenam Kaumara Madalayam, Shri Alok Chakraval National Coordinator, Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas and Smt Shobha Paithankar. Women Wing Coordinator, Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas also participated in the inaugural ceremony. Vice Chancellors, academicians and students from various South Indian universities are participating in the conclave.
