The Government of India is organizing the 1st World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) to promote the media and entertainment industry of the country and enhance its global impact. With the launch of 25 challenges under 'Create in India Challenge - Season 1' by The Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw on 22nd August, 2024, Waves is set to become an important platform focusing on entertainment economics and technology for the icons of the media and entertainment community around the world.
The challenge is aimed at helping Indian talent in various fields such as animation, gaming, comics, pre and post production, AR/Axar/VR, generative AI, broadcasting, radio, social media, content creators, film, music, The new technology has to take an interest through a series of state and national level competitions. It will be organized in collaboration with the Media and Entertainment Association of India.
In order to create awareness among the youth about WAVES and to increase their active participation, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has undertaken a number of programmes, as part of which the programme was organized today by the Letter Information Office and the Central Bureau of Communications, Ahmedabad, at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), Gandhinagar.
A large number of students were briefed in detail about waves by Mr. Utsav Parmar, Deputy Director, Doordarshan Samachar at the event, which included the purpose of the programme, how they can participate in it and the details of the awards.
At the beginning of the programme, the guests were welcomed with bouquets and mementos by Ms. Aarohi Patel, Deputy Director, PIB.
The programme was outlined by Dr. P S Kalyan Sasidhar, Dean (Students) of the institute. An exhibition was also prepared by the Central Bureau of Communications, Ahmedabad during the programme with an aim to disseminate information about WAVES to as many youth as possible.
