DESIGNATED COURT SENTENCES TWO ACCUSED INCLUDING THEN MANAGER (CIVIL ENGINEER) OF FCI, RAJKOT AND A PRIVATE PERSON TO 3 YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT WITH TOTAL FINE OF RS 40,000/- IN A CASE OF BRIBERY

The Special Judge for CBl cases, Ahmedabad has today i.e. 19.11.2024 sentenced two accused namely, Shri Yogesh Harivadan Patel, then Manager (Civil Engineer), FCI, DO, Rajkot and Shri Punit Jaysukhbhai Solanki, Pvt. Person, to 3 Years’ Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) with total fine of Rs.40,000/- for the offences related to bribery.
CBl had registered the instant case on 22.12.2012 against the accused persons on allegations that the accused Sh. Yogesh Harivadan Patel, then Manager (Civil Engineer), Fcl, DO, Rajkot had demanded and accepted of Rs.5000/-for clearance of pending bills of the firm managed by the complainant.
The private person, Sh. Punit Jaysukhbhai Solanki had taken bribe amount on behalf of the public servant Shri Yogesh Harivadan Patel. Accused Shri Yogendra H. Patel and Shri Punit J. Solanki were arrested on 23.12.2012. Searches were also conducted at the residential and official premises of Shri Yogesh H. Patel.
After the completion of investigation, charge sheet was filed on 20.09.2013 against the accused persons for the offence of demanding and accepting illegal gratification and criminal misconduct committed by the accused public servant and against the private person for abetment of the said offence. After trial, the Court found the accused guilty and sentenced them accordingly.
