ICAR-CTCRI concludes Vigilance Awareness Week with Valedictory Function

ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI), Sreekariyam, observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 from October 28 to November 3, with the theme “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity.” The week began with an Integrity Pledge and included elocution, essay writing in multiple languages, and poster competitions focused on the theme, open to school students and CTCRI staff.
Shri Yogesh Gupta, DGP and Director of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Thiruvananthapuram, was the chief guest of the function held on November 4. Shri Yogesh Gupta commended CTCRI for its history of vigilance and integrity, highlighting the importance of transparency and internal checks like audits and CVO roles. He emphasized teamwork, fair policies, and a corruption-free environment as essential for institutional success and noted that agricultural research is among the most respected fields, deserving of high ethical standards.
Director Dr. G. Byju, presiding over the event, underscored the importance of ethics in research and cautioned against 'guest' and 'ghost' authorship in scientific publishing. He was pleased to note CTCRI's record of integrity in scientific contributions, with no recent manuscript retractions.
Dr. Sajeev M.S., Vigilance Officer and Principal Scientist, welcomed the gathering, while Senior Administrative Officer Shri S. Bhadrakumar and Dr. Asha Devi A, Principal Scientist, also spoke.
