Prof. Dipankar Banerjee has assumed charge as Director, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), an autonomous institution under the Department of Space, on 14.10.2024. Prof Banerjee, Senior Professor at Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) Bengaluru had been serving as Director, Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), Nainital of Department of Science and Technology (DST) since December 2019, prior to this assignment. He has taken charge as Director IIST from Dr. S Unnikrishnan Nair, Director, VSSC who had been holding the additional charge of Director IIST from September 2022.
