Tamil Nadu Circle secured the title of championship in 37th All India Postal Chess Tournament in Panaji

The 37th All India Postal Chess Tournament, held from the 23rd to the 26th of September at the Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji, culminated on Thursday with a grand closing ceremony. In the team category, the Tamil Nadu Circle secured the title of championship, while Bihar Circle secured the runner-up position, and Orissa Circle finished in third place. In the individual category, Shri Sahoo Utkal Ranjan of Orissa Circle emerged as the winner, with Shri Sinha Sudhir Kumar from Bihar Circle finishing as the runner-up. Somya Ranjan Mishra, also from Orissa Circle, secured third place.
The prestigious event was honoured by the presence of Dr. N. Vinod Kumar, Chairperson of the Mormugao Port Authority, who attended as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by Shri Ramchandra K. Jayabhaye, Postmaster General, Goa Region. Shri Abhijeet Bansode, Director of Postal Services (HQ) Maharashtra Circle, and Shri Ramesh Patil, Director of Postal Services, Goa Region were attended the closing ceremony.

In his address, Dr. N. Vinod Kumar praised the exceptional talent showcased throughout the tournament, emphasizing the vital role chess plays in enhancing cognitive and strategic abilities. He also applauded the efforts of both the organizers and participants, acknowledging their contribution to the success of the event.
Shri Ramchandra K. Jayabhaye, Postmaster General of the Goa Region, extended a special acknowledgment to the Salcete Taluka Chess Association for their invaluable support and contributions in ensuring the seamless organization of the tournament. Their assistance was instrumental in the event's success, providing an excellent platform for players to showcase their skills and talents.
The four-day tournament featured intense and thrilling matches, with participants from across the country competing in various categories. The top performers were awarded trophies, medals, and certificates in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
The tournament was a resounding success, highlighting the spirit of sportsmanship and the growing popularity of chess within the postal community.
