Assam hosts 07 media persons from Gujarat to Showcase Assam's Cultural and Developmental Milestones

A media delegation comprising of 07 mediapersons from Gujarat arrived in Guwahati today for a week-long visit from 23rd to 29th September 2024. The visit is part of a Media Tour organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ahmedabad, with the support of PIB Guwahati, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
During the tour, the mediapersons will explore the social, economic and cultural fabric of Assam with visits to several important Central government projects including call on the Governor of Assam, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya. The delegation’s itinerary includes visits to Kaziranga National Park, Numaligarh Refinery Limited, the under-construction site of the Statue of Lachit Borphukan, UNESCO World Heritage Site Charaideo Maidam, Kamakhya Temple, Purbai Diary under WAMUL and the Bogibeel tourist-cum-cargo terminal amongst others. They will also explore historical landmarks like Rang Ghar, Talatal Ghar, and Siva Dol.
On the first day of their tour the journalists were taken to the North Eastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC), a coporation under M/o DoNER. NEHHDC works to develop and promote the indigenous crafts of the region by connecting craftsmen to prospective markets and consumers and generating economic, cultural and social opportunities for creators while adding cultural value for consumers. It offers a range of products from all the eight North Eastern states. The journalists took a visit of the organisation to see the various processes in production, processing and marketing of handicrafts and handlooms.
The Media Tour aims to offer journalists from Gujarat a platform to gain insights into the various government initiatives being implemented in Assam. This interaction will help sensitize the journalists to the local conditions, socio-economic and political landscapes, and the developmental efforts being made by the government. Media representatives from outlets such as TV9 Gujarati, Nav Gujarat Samay, Divya Bhaskar, and Kaccha Mitra are participating in this tour, fostering a deeper understanding of Assam’s governance and progress.
