Postal services are adopting the latest technology and creating new dimensions every day. In the changing scenario, the Department of Posts is playing a vital role in financial inclusion, Digital India and Antyodaya. It is not delivering letters and parcels only but also connecting people with various government welfare schemes and their benefits.  Postmaster General of Saurashtra and Kachchh Region, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, expressed these views during review meeting of the Divisional Heads and India Post Payments Bank Managers of Saurashtra and Kachchh Region at the Regional office on Septmeber 23. Senior Superintendent of Rajkot, Shri S.K. Bunkar welcomed the Postmaster General upon his arrival in Rajkot for the first time and informed him about the progress of postal services, gave the information about the work done by Saurashtra and Kachchh region and the achievements.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that the Department of Posts is involved in a range of public-oriented tasks beyond letters and parcels, including Savings Banks, Postal Life Insurance, India Post Payments Bank, Post office Passport Kendras, Aadhaar enrollment and updates, Common service centers, and Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra. Through IPPB, Postman and Gramin Dak Sevak are working as a mobile banks today. Under CELC, many services like making Aadhaar for children at home, updating mobile, digital life certificate, DBT, bill payment, payment from bank account through AEPS, vehicle insurance, health insurance, accident insurance, Pradhan Mantri Jeevanjyoti Bima Yojana are being made available at the doorstep through postman.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav conducted a detailed review of the progress of postal services in the Saurashtra and Kachchh region. Currently, there are over 45 lakhs savings accounts, 9.39 lakh IPPB accounts, 3.97 lakh Sukanya Samriddhi accounts, and 37,000 Mahila Samman Savings Certificates opened in Saurashtra and Kachchh region. Additionally, 426 villages have been covered as ‘Sampoorna Sukanya Samriddhi Grams,’ 740 villages covered as Sampoorna Bima Grams,' and 16 villages designated as Five-Star Villages. Through the Passport Seva Kendra, more than 31,000 people have obtained passports in this financial year. 91,000 people have enrolled or updated their Aadhaar through the post office, while 76,000 people have benefited from CELC through India Post Payments Bank. More than 30,000 individuals received payments totaling ₹15 crore through the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System at door step.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav emphasized the importance of conducting extensive campaigns and Dak Chaupals in the remaining days of the financial year to achieve the allocated targets for various services. He also highlighted the need to connect the citizens with these services, ensure prompt resolution of public grievances, and responsiveness towards customers.
