National launch of NPS Vatsalya Yojana by Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman; Minister's address heard by students and parents in Pune, Nagpur, Nanded and Mumbai's Jogeshwari through video conferencing


In NPS Vatsalya Yojana, children will inculcate the habit of saving at an early age; Parents expressed their feelings at the launch of this scheme

Union  Finance Smt. Minister Nirmala Sitharaman officially launched the new pension scheme for minors, named "NPS Vatsalya," today from New Delhi. She had announced this scheme during the last budget. 4 Districts from Maharashtra Mumbai, Pune, Nanded and Nagpur  participated in this national launch event, virtually through video confernceing.

The State Level Bankers Committee organized the launch ceremony of NPS Vatsalya Yojana in Jogeshwari area of Mumbai. On this occasion, PRAN-Permanent Retirement Account Number cards required for this scheme were  distributed to the children.

At Nagpur,the event was organized by the Bank of India, the lead bank of Nagpur district, at School of Scholars Beltarodi and was attended by Bank Manager Mohit Gedam, NABARD Assistant Manager Sachin Sonone, and the Principal of School of Scholars Beltarodi, Uma Bhalerao.During the event, officials addressed questions from parents about the NPS Vatsalya scheme and resolved their concerns.

Smt. Jyoti Pote, a parent from Nagpur, expressed  the opinion that the NPS Vatsalya scheme will help children understand the importance of saving from a young age. She further said  to definitely open an NPS Vatsalya account for  her child to ensure a bright and secure future.

The program of NPS Vatsalya Yojana was organized at Siddhi Banquet Hall in Mhatre Pul area of ​​Pune in association with Bank of Maharashtra which is the district leading bank and State Level Bankers Committee, Maharashtra. Chief Executive Officer of Pune Zilla Parishad Santosh Patil, General Manager of Bank of Maharashtra and State Level Bankers Committee Convenor Chitra Datar, Regional Manager of Bank of Maharashtra Javed Mohanvi, Deputy General Manager of NABARD Joshi Puthur and Deputy General Manager of Canara Bank Leena Pinto, District Leading Bank Manager Yogesh Patil were present on this occasion. At the beginning of the program, the attendees were informed about the 'NPS Vatsalya' scheme through a puppet show and entertainment program. Also their doubts were cleared by officials .  The attendees also listened to the address given by Finance Minister  and learned about the scheme.

According to the information provided by Anil Gachke, Manager of the leading bank of Nanded district, the Nanded district participated in the national launch program with the participation of 50 students and 50 parents at Kendriya Vidyalaya Airport Road Nanded.

About NPS  Vatsalya Scheme :

Vatsalya is a new pension scheme for children in the age group of 0 to 18 years. A parent can deposit a minimum of 1000 per month and a maximum with no limit. This account will be operated by the parents until the child turns 18, after which the account will be in the name of the children. Once the child turns 18, the account can be seamlessly converted into a regular NPS account or a non-NPS scheme.
