Kolhapur-Pune Vande Bharat Express makes Maiden Journey

The Indian Railway has the seen a transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Vande Bharat train from Kolhapur to Pune will herald a new era in mobility in the area, said Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti Shri V Somanna in Kolhapur today. He presided over the flagging off ceremony of the Vande Bharat trains in Kolhapur. Multiple Vande Bharat trains were flagged off by the Prime minister across the nation today.

Shri. Somanna spoke about various initiatives by Railways in Maharashtra and stated that Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus in Kolhapur has also received 43 crore under Amrit Bharat Station scheme for renovation of the railway station.

The Minister concluded by saying that by 2030 the Indian Railways will be pollution-free and it’s carbon contribution will be net zero.

Members of Parliament Shri Dhananjay Mahadik, Shri Dhairyasheel Mane and Shri Shahu Shahaji Chhatrapati were present on the occasion. AGM, Central Railway, Shri Prabhat Ranjan presented the vote of thanks.

Details about Vande Bharat trains flagged off today

PM flaged off the Bhuj-Ahmedabad Vande Metro, Pune-SSS Hubballi, Kolhapur-Pune, Nagpur-Secunderabad, Agra Cantt.-Banaras, Raipur (Durg)-Visakhapatnam, and Varanasi-Prayagraj (India's first 20-coach Vande Bharat) Vande Bharat Express trains on 16.09.2024.

The new Vande Bharat train services between Pune-SSS Hubballi & Kolhapur -Pune marks significant progress in rail connectivity for both Karnataka and Maharashtra. The Pune-Kolhapur Vande Bharat Express is the 11th Vande Bharat train for Maharashtra.

The Pune-Kolhapur Vande Bharat Express will strengthen connectivity between two culturally important cities. Kolhapur, home to the famous Mahalaxmi temple, and Pune, a major IT hub and cultural center, will now boost tourism with more efficient, modern train service.

The advanced Vande Bharat Express trains features an 8 Coach chair car configuration with a seating capacity of 530 passengers. With cutting-edge technology, including a state-of-the-art suspension system, passengers can enjoy a smoother, faster, and more comfortable journey.

Details of regular run of above Vande Bharat Express train are as under:

Kolhapur-Pune-Kolhapur Vande Bharat express (Tri-weekly)

Train No. 20673 Kolhapur-Pune Vande Bharat Express (Tri-weekly) will run on every (Thursday, Saturday and Monday) with effect from 19.09.2024, will leave Kolhapur at 08.15 hrs and reach Pune at 13.30 hrs same day.

Train No. 20674 Pune-Kolhapur Vande Bharat Express (Tri-weekly) will run on every (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) with effect from 18.09.2024, will leave Pune at 14.15 hrs and reach Kolhapur at 19.40 hrs same day.

Halts: Miraj, Sangli, Kirloskarwadi, Karad and Satara

These Vande Bharat trains will be a testament to India's strides in modernizing rail travel, with a strong focus on "Make in India." This modern rail infrastructure continues to enhance regional connectivity, boost economic vitality, and provide passengers with world-class travel experiences.
