Mumbai, 6th September 2024

The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Minsitry of Information & Broadcasting organised a Roadshow to kick off the 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), set to take place from 20th to 28th November 2024 in Goa. The Roadshow was held today, 06th September at the NFDC Premises on Pedder Road, Mumbai 2024, which brought together film industry experts, producers, Consulate Generals, and media professionals.

 

 

IFFI Festival Director Shekhar Kapoor delivered an inspiring keynote address, sharing his film industry journey and long-standing association with the festival. NFDC General Manager, D. Ramakrishnan, outlined the key initiatives and exciting highlights of the upcoming IFFI, including the highly anticipated Film Bazaar, which aims to promote international collaborations and recognise outstanding film projects.

 

Key Highlights of the Roadshow:

Overview of IFFI 2024: A preview of the 55th season of one of Asia’s most prestigious film festivals.

Best Debut Director Award: A new initiative to honour debut films by Indian filmmakers at 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), 2024 thereby, encouraging the growth of fresh talent in the film industry.

Film Bazaar 2024: This year, Film Bazaar, South Asia's largest co-production market which runs alongside IFFI, will offer a first-time cash grant of $20,000 for the top three winning co-production projects. Film Bazaar has been instrumental in connecting Indian filmmakers with global opportunities, making it an essential component of IFFI.

Creative Minds of Tomorrow (CMOT): A call for 100 young talents to apply across various filmmaking disciplines, with applications closing on 10th September.

 

 

NMIC Tour and Audi Event: 

Following the main session, a special tour of the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC) was organized for college students and special invitees. Attendees explored the rich history of Indian cinema before gathering at the NMIC Auditorium for an exclusive session. In this segment, Mr. Ramakrishnan addressed the audience, offering insights into upcoming initiatives like CMOT and the First-Time Director activity, encouraging young talents to seize the opportunities presented by IFFI.
